Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has provided an interesting update on the club's current transfer activity. During an LFC press conference - literally a few minutes ago (it's still ongoing) - Rodgers insisted that he will 'never speak publicly' about specific Liverpool transfer targets, but he did reveal a snippet of potentially exciting information. He said: "We've made three or four enquiries for players. "We we hope to conclude one deal this week, maybe two. "A whole raft of players have been linked but I will never speak publicly about specific targets". "There won't be lots of players coming in, just three or four tweaks. We con't have a barrell-load of money, and I want to work with and improve the players we already have here" So, the club could potentially have two new players by the end of the week. Great news, the question is, who...? One potential signing is Bologna star Gaston Ramirez. Over the weekend, two respected Uruguayan journalists - Rodrigo Romano and Edward Pinon - claimed that Liverpool would complete the signing of Bolgona attacker Gaston Ramirez. Posting on his Twitter feed, Romano - a football journalist who works for channel VTV Uruguay - said: "Based on the information I have, Liverpool will sign Gaston Ramirez this weekend for 20 million Euros" Edward Pinon, the Editor of Uruguayan newspaper 'El Pais' also confirmed that Ramirez is a done deal, stating on Twitter that a fee of £16m (€20m) had been agreed. http://www.liverpool-kop.com/2012/07/breaking-news-rodgers-provides-exciting.html
Yeah its been on twitter since about saturday that Ramirez has agreed to join and deal ton be completed within a week. Based on what he's just said I'm inclined to believe it now
Well said (or not said) by Rodgers. No deal will ever be done completely behind closed doors but he's saying don't believe anything until we say so. I also like the statement about our existing squad. Looks like he's seeking to compliment what he's already got.
I was actually aiming for the point in bold to excite people, rather than the Ramirez rumours resurfacing.
But would it? I'm sure there would be people questioning why we've only made one signing or even doubting the signing actually made
Not wanting to make this entirely a Ramirez thread but the Echo not sounding confident about that one:http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/live...umours-wide-of-the-mark-100252-31352262/Let's hope we see a bit of movement this week whoever the players are that BR is after
From the official site: http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/rodgers-s-transfer-hope New signing this week hopefully. As ts already stated. What do we read into his comment on Carroll... Rodgers was also quizzed by reporters about the possibility of players leaving the club over the coming weeks. On newspaper speculation that has linked Andy Carroll with a loan move to AC Milan, the manager said: "He's a good player, Andy, so he'll always be linked whether he's here or not. "I've spoken to Andy on his holidays. He knows exactly where he stands. I've had the chance to speak to a lot of the players. "He is a very good young player and, like I said, he will be linked with clubs because he is such a good player. "I haven't had anything (enquiries) from them (AC Milan) at all." Compare that to the praise he heaped on Suarez and Bellamy when they were linked with moves away. - Could the signing possible be Victor Moses?
Ben Smith (BBC) tweeted that off camera, Rodgers said that "LFC fans would find one potential player 'incredibly exciting' - they'll love him" ...
I really like the way BR conducts himself. If his confidence and persona translates onto the pitch we have a real winner.
