Liverpool have secured a top manager there. They may well go places with him. Feel a bit sorry for Swansea, because they'll find it bloody hard to replace him. Must have been a bloody good offer for him to go to the poisoned chalice of Anfield.

Baffling decision! Rogers seems like a good manager, who gets teams playing good football, but has only managed in 150 games. Being Liverpool he'll have a huge weight to deal with, just hope he's able to handle it..For Saints I'm delighted, and really only because Adkins (results wise at least) has a much better record and thankfully was never linked. Will be very interesting to see how all these Premier League clubs with new guys in charge get on - I'm just happy with our stability.
I disagree. He could be just the man for them. Remember Dalglish had had no experience before taking the helm first time round.

The trouble running a team like Pool is the fact that everyone remembers their history before Utd took over top dog mantle. I have a hunch that The newbie will prove to be a wise choice.
Left Reading by mutual consent after 6 months in charge even though he has been involved in coashing since about the age of 19. Given the quality of football that Swansea have produced during the last season Rodgers looks like a good bet for a British candidate but also a tremendous risk. I can't see Liverpool fans being too impressed and perhaps this appointment is a reflection of the decreased expectations at Anfield. With Man City very much the new kids on the block, I can't see Rodger's leading Liverpool to any marked improvement in league position and maybe this will mark to point when Liverpool redefine themselves as a mid-table team. Given the quality of internationals in the squad, Rodgers will need to make an impression quickly or else I fear that their better players will see the writing on the wall. I can't see Liverpool breaking in to the top 4 and would anticipate that Spurs and Newcastle will comfortably out=perform them in the league. Got to fear for Swansea next season....
Yes, but look at the managers who have failed. And presently, the only direction Liverpool are going is down the table, and they've been slowly heading that way for a very long time, whether or not they've won the Champions League, in between. Ask any Liverpool supporter and ultimately, they want to win the Premier League, not some inflated cup competition, and as the saying goes, they've got slim or no chance, and slim just left town. Rodgers has got to turn them around. Big ask, but I think he's capable.
I can see the risks SS, but even if he ultimately fails to pull it off, will it really harm his reputation? Didn't seem to do Roy Hodgson any harm and nobody will say Kenny is no good. Plus, how could you turn it down when a bad run of games next season might lead to his sacking at the Swans, such is the way with footy these days.

He refused to be part of the interview process, which seems to be the fashion these days in football. There was a time that if you wanted a manager in work you would make a decision and at least be 80-90% sure you would offer him the job after an interview. Liverpool have managed to unsettle a few clubs over this. As with any appointment the key is time. Rodgers could be a great appointment, but Liverpool cannot expect champions league football at the end of season 1.

Rodgers has a background in youth footbal and playing football the right way for the benefit of developing players. He likes the 433 and Reading didn't really adapt to that in his time there. Swansea were already well used too the 433, which made Rodgers' job a lot easier. I reckon with a considered appointment, they could carry on where Rodgers left off. Has Di Matteo extended his stay at Chelse yet? If not, I think he'd be perfect for Swansea. Liverpool, although the 433 is there for Rodgers, I don't think it's meant to be. The owners will give him money to spend and I can see them being quite impatient with him if he doesn't perform miracles which seems likely with Liverpool's recent history.
The Sigurdsson deal to Swansea wasn't completed was it? If not he'll probably follow Rodgers to Liverpool
