to tescos?????!! absolutely no loyalty these days, load of old bull about he didn't even want to speak to them
You will get in huge trouble for starting yet another thread. I hope valley boy doesn't see this. He'll go mental. And don't forget that the club haven't officially announced this, so some on here still refuse to believe it. Heads in sand syndrome.
Don't blame Rodgers that much TBH Just a shame that we will lose players over this that's the big problem
**** sake....I know that most in his position would go but this puts us in trouble and he'll probably not get the time he needs to do what he wants there. What now? Could we get Martinez back?
I just expected him to be more honourable. So much for "I want to build my career not ruin it" when he was touted for Chelsea. Liverpool are a farce and will not make Champs League next season and so he'll be out on his ear. At least we'll get decent compo but don't think we'll sign Siggy now and could well lose a couple of players (a la Martinez leaving).
I want Roberto Di Matteo, or Gianfranco Zola! Come on Huw think big now son, we are Premiur League, get in there!.................... please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
If this is all true then I don't understand BR's decision. Martinez's decision as reported on BBC makes sense to me. I understand his desire not to walk into a Baseball shop masquerading as football club. I have followed baseball on and off over the last 30 years. And this is my understanding of how a typical baseball operation is structured. There are owners. The Yankees not withstanding, there is typically a President or chief executive or operations officer that runs the business as a whole. Under him on the playing side is a General Manager - this guy is responsible for player movement, making trades, hiring / firing the Team Manager etc. Reporting to the General Manager could be a Director Of Player Personnel, a Money Ball Specialist, and a Team Manager. The Director of Player Personnel is responsible for traditional scouting at all levels, overseeing the club's player assets assigned to the three tier minor league system, assisting the GM with trades etc. The Money Ball specialist is a relatively new position in the game who is responsible for statistical analysis and player evaluation from a performance metric point of view. The Team Manager is the person that runs the "first team" or major league squad of players and is responsible for results on the field. In most cases the Team Manager has minimal input into player acquisition and his job is to get the best out what he's given, whether he likes the players, wants the players, rates the players or not and regardless of what type of ball he personally wants to play. In other words the Team Manager has little latitude to express himself if he's a progressive in the game. Now understand that Baseball is, for the most part, a game of minimal options - it's a see the ball, hit the ball kinda sport. In football there has been 100 years plus of evolution in strategy, tactics, player roles, shapes, skills etc. What you watched in 1900, or 1930, or 1950 or 1980 etc is not what you see today. Not so in baseball, the baseball of 100 years ago is not, steroids not withstanding, much different from what you see today. In fact 100 years ago players took performance degrading substances like alcohol but funnily enough seemed to produce more hits and better batting averages than they do today - go figure. Based on what I have read on the BBC articles regarding Martinez, Liverpool etc, it appears the the Boston Boys are going to run Liverpool the only way they know how - as a baseball club. Hence the multiple roles defined, the fragmentation and tight partitioning of responsibilities that they appear to be hiring for. This is clearly not attractive to Martinez. Why on earth would this be attractive to Rogers. Why would a position whose sole responsibility is to maximize the output of a given squad of players with minimal or marginalized input into who that squad is be attractive to anybody, especially when the first person to get **** from the media and supporters is the Team Manager. I may be wrong on this interpretation, but I don't think so. Martinez maybe a bit of a snake, but he's not stupid. He understands that the power to shape the team, the style, and the bottom line his destiny, is limited in the "baseball" model of football. I don't see the attraction of this to BR, when he's got the power to build the universe here with us. If BR wants to be just a coach, why didn't he accept the offer from Mancini two years ago - he could be working with arguably the best collection of talent in the world outside of Barcelona and Madrid right now. Instead, whoever takes on the team manager role at Liverpool is going to have to negotiate regularly and especially leading up to and during the transfer window with at least two other people who's in his squad and who isn't, he's going to have to justify his playing style and strategies and tactics with these two other people and sell them on what he needs and that's before the decisions get to the people with the money.
Ha ha. You are so lame. PS I still don't see how I've wound anyone up. It was obvious that BR was going but you and others refused to believe it. Not my fault that you have your head buried deep where the sun don't shine. Get over it and move on. Looks like Martinez could be back. That should cheer you up. And no, I'm not trying to wind you up. He's in the frame for the job.
And you are so transparent Cardiff fan, which one are you in reality ? You were Bangkokswan before, any other changes of name ?
I hear you DPJ, but La La La La La La La!!!! If there's nothing new to comment on why comment. If you haven't changed your position from your last statement, why comment. It might not be reassuring to us, but he's not paid to reassure us. Maybe he's too busy figuring out how to get both Caulker and Dos Santos from Spurs.
