    Date: 19th Feb 2011

Postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

    Venue: Spotland (Total Capacity 10,249)
Radio Coverage: 96.1FM BBC Radio Solent

Southampton F.C make yet another away trip back up t'north approx 240 miles to play respectable 8th place Rochdale. A game which will see both team fighting for 3 points should either teams want to pursue their promotion ambition for either club.

Rochdale's last defeat in NPower League 1 came back on 10TH DEC 2010 against Posh losing 2-1 and since then won 6 and drew 4. Pretty impressive – and something Nigel Adkins will not want to know.

Southampton have however since start of 2011 have made a exciting start to the promotion campaign under Nigel Adkins, Winning 6 games , Drawn 2 , Lost 2. One of which came last weekend against Carlisle United where Rickie Lambert netted his 50th Goal since playing for Southampton which was celebrated in style after becoming a Dad for the 2nd time to Baby Mason. Congrats Rickie & his family <ok>

Well Done Rickie on reaching your 50th Goal for Southampton ...keep them goals coming!!

Another bit of great news came to please Saints fans was when Adam Lallana make his first League appearance against Carlisle (2nd Half) since his injury which occurred during th 6-0 win against Oldham. He was warmly welcomed back by the fans which his traditional chants which was greatly appreciated.
Fingers crossed Adam Lallana starts this weekend against Rochdale!

Alex Oxlade- Chamberlain has had a busy time of late as he has made his 1st England U21 debut after playing the last 30 mins of Italy vs England, which ending in a 1-0 defeat. For the short spell, he made a large impact and got positive comment from BBC sport for his contribution to his country.

So same question against Southampton Fans....After criticisms of leaky Defence, Doubts looming over Kelvin , Squad Rotation ...who should be in this weekends starting XI

    Thoughts on F/T Results?

    Think the team should be

    Bialkowski
    Butterfield Fonte Jaidi Harding
    Chamberlain Hammond Chaplow Lallana
    Lambert Barnard

I've never been a fan of Davis and think it is about time Bart is given a chance. Also, Guly has not been great since he signed a new contract so maybe it is time for Barnard to start again to put pressure on Guly to perform.

Think it will be a very tough game on saturday and on tuesday at Hartlepool. 4 points would be a very good out of those 2 games. Prediction: Rochdale 1-1 Saints

Pretty much the same except I would have Guly up front instead of Barney. Not much good at score suggestions although my gut feeling says a draw.

Yea same here, Guly to start instead of Barnard, and it's definitely time that Bart got his chance.

Sticking with Davis plus Dickson back in

    Davis
    Butterfield Fonte Jaidi Dickson
    Chamberlain Hammond Chaplow Lallana
    Lambert Guly

Heart says 2-1 Saints, head says 1-1

I would have to change some of the team

    Bialkowski
    Butterfield, Fonte, Martin, Harding
    Chamberlain, Chaplow, Spiderman, Lallana
    Barnard, Lambert

    Jaidi, N'Guessan, Richardson, Dickson, Guly,Gobern, Doble/Fonte

Think Spiders still injured SFC........interesting choice in Martin.....just remember he hasn't even been on the bench for a while...also a small point don't you mean Forte in the subs?

    Davis
    Butterfield, Fonte, Jaidi, Harding
    Chamberlain, Chaplow, Hammond, Lallana
    Guly, Lambert

Jaidi for the lump balls coz we gotta expect that. Guly offers more over 90 minutes and will create more chances and his pure workrate allows Lambo to play his game the way he does best! Chappers and Hammond are killing it for me atm as Hammond is a far better holding midfielder allowing chappers to push forward and hopefully add to his tally. I feel when spidey is in the squad, he and hammond follow eachother leaving gaps!

Good mixture of pace with skill as well as players to hold it up and win the ariel balls!

With the likes of dickson, richardson, morgs, barny, n'guessan and forte pushing for starts, id say the bench is solid and when all fit the impact subs can really change a game!

Im saying 2-0 / 2-1 saints! Tough game!

You are correct BT. I rate Martin as a better bet than Seaborne and at least the equal of Jaidi. Jaidi has the experience and that is probably the one thing keeping him in the side now. Spiderman is supposed to be nearly ready and his distribution is better than Hammond. Guess it would have to be Hammond if Spiderman ain't ready.

Though how Nigel rates Martin is the most important thing. Interesting that both Fonte and Jaidi have said that they think Martin is a star in the making and is already a good player to be alongside.

Right..suppose it about time I made my thoughts

    Davis
    Butterfield Fonte Martin Harding
Oxo Chappers Deano Messi (Sorry Lallana <laugh>)
    Lambert and Barny

Full Time: 2-1 but as Nashy says this will be a tough game for us!

I would like Aaron have a chance back in starting XI but I cant see it being so late in the season and we needing wins ...so it might be Jaidi instead!

I think a win here would make me feel much more confident about autos. Rochdale obviously did us at our place but I think we are better now.

I think a draw would be more likely, and not a disaster. I will be very pleased with a win as this game is the sort that on paper we should be happy with a point.

I think playoffs are most likely still and think we will do well in them if it comes to that.

Our form since late November has been good enough for autos but needs to be better to overcome the poor start... again!

Rochdale are most likely to score with a quick break or set piece. If they get ahead we won't win.

Rochdale did us, because of slack marking and sloppy defending. Two shots on goal, 2 goals. Then parking the bus (for those advocating Martin he was one of the centre backs that day and in the next match against Swindon which we also lost) He hasn't played in the first team since. Rochdale have a smaller pitch I understand which may not be to our liking. Although one would hope that we have a stronger team out this time. I still feel it is a toughie...... I think a draw is about right.......

Saints won't lose today, games orf, waterlogged pitch, we didn't need that I was confident of getting a result.
