Team News Will post when there is some news Past meetings We have only met 5 times since 1996 and have only won once at Rochdale in that time however we have not lost either as we have won one and drew one which was the 2009 play off semi final first leg which was only a week after that game. 25 Nov 2008 Gillingham v Rochdale D 1-1 League Two 02 May 2009 Rochdale v Gillingham W 0-1 League Two 07 May 2009 Rochdale v Gillingham D 0-0 League Two Play-Offs 10 May 2009 Gillingham v Rochdale W 2-1 League Two Play-Offs 29 Sep 2012 Gillingham v Rochdale L 1-2 League Two Current league table As of the 17th January 2013 Gillingham sit 2nd in League 2 after 26 games with 51 where Port Vale are top with 52 points but they have played one more game than us. Rochdale sit 14th after 28 games with 36 points. HOADIEâS View on this match I think we can defiantly win this one, Rochdale are not on form at the moment and with our great away record really this is a game that we should be winning even though Rochdale are under performing. They have only won 2 in 10 and they were against good sides but we will not be the third and we will win this one. The score line and scorers I think the score will be 0-2 to us with Burton and Birchall with the goals.
Weather Update Not looking good at the moment really and with more snow to come I can see this being called off. http://www.rochdaleafc.co.uk/news/article/players-lend-a-hand-605008.aspx
I think that if the game goes ahead the team will be this: Nelson Fish Legge Barrett Martin Whelpdale Payne Lee Weston Burton Birchall Bench Forecast Frampton Davies Gregory Jackman Allen Kedwell
Hope the game goes ahead, just as I hope Wimbledon's will at Accrington as we both need the points - you to keep the pressure on Port Vale and Wimbledon to pull away from the drop zone.
It appears Rochdale are doing everything physically possible to keep the game on. Well done. However, widespread snow is forecast for the South East of England tomorrow (Friday) from late morning and disruption is expected... London and South East England Forecast Summary Friday Snow becoming widespread through the morning and continuing through the afternoon and evening, with further accumulations and a risk of disruption. Feeling bitterly cold with a brisk southeasterly wind. Therefore supporters may well encounter problems on Saturday before even starting on route: London and South East England Forecast Summary Outlook for Saturday to Monday Very cold with an ice risk throughout. Windy with further sleet or snow likely Saturday. Winds ease Sunday, mainly dry but rather cloudy. Outbreaks of rain, sleet or snow Monday. http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/me7
http://www.gillinghamfootballclub.com/news/article/rochdale-preview-jan-17-605129.aspx 'Gillingham manager Martin Allen has no injury worries ahead of the trip up to the North West but with the likes of Bradley Dack, Josh Hare and Devante McKain out on loan, young left-back Sam Muggleton has been added to the traveling party'. I thought Muggleton was a keeper like his dad, my mistake but I wonder what he is like, has anyone seen him in action?
Not much hope of this being on but....... My Team for this week: Nelson Fish Legge Barrett Martin Gregory Whelpdale Lee Weston Burton Birchall Kedders benched even after scoring 'that' goal, he simply isnt a big enough goal-scoring threat and when Burton went off on Sat you just knew that a chance would fall and Kedders would miss; the one from 6 yards out in front of the Rainham End springs to mind.
The temperature between now and 3 o'clock Saturday never exceeds freezing point (Met Office). Most of the time it is -2C. Chances of this game proceeding must be low.
As the forecast is readily avaiable online I won't bother expanding on that except to comment that the forecast earlier this week of "15-25cm" of snow expected on Friday has now been re-assessed to "6-7cm" from Thursday to Saturday, which is obviously a lot more manageable, and unlikely to cause the sort of travel disruption that a heavier fall inevitably would. As Bristol has commented, the temperature is a bigger threat, but the pitch was soft earlier this week, and the snow that fell on Monday has now been removed from the pitch and the covers replaced - they were still working on the pitch when I passed the ground on my way home from work at about 6.15 this evening. There's been a little bit of snow this evening - I guess not even 1cm, but if that has fallen on the covers then it will in fact help protect the pitch from frost. Providing they can get the covers off on Saturday morning, and it's not snowing too much on Saturday, I reckon that there's still a good chance that the match will go ahead, but that's based on the situation here at the moment, and the forecast. Obviously keep watching the Rochdale web site for official news, but if a further comment is appropriate tomorrow evening I'll post accordingly.
