Brentford away. Local derby and one that we could actually win.

Dont mind playing a weakened side but I feel a cup run could be used effectively to get players on the fringe such as PVM and the like some much needed game time in case their needed to step in at any point.

    Hi guys.
Glad to be a part of the forum.

Anyway, I've never understood why getting knocked out first up can be good for any team. Surely, winning breeds confidence ... and confidence will be a key factor in our first season back in the Premiership.

All the best for the upcoming season!

I'd rather concentrate on the league, but the cups can provide a welcome break for the regular players,
by giving the rest of the squad a run out.
It's also a bit of a earner for both sets of clubs.
As for who we get, I don't mind, if it's at home, I may just turn up.

The draw is seeded so we'll get a team from the lower end of the Championship downwards, a banana skin awaits...

Hello there welcome to the board<ok>

it didn't work out too bad last season did it!
And if there is going to be a cup run(!!<laugh>!!) I'd prefer the F.A cup.

IMO its an unwelcome distraction. All efforts into staying up- If a DJC , JB, Ali or Tarbs were to get injured playing a carling cup match it would be a major problem for a cup we have no chance of winning. Survival however is a possibility.

The point about raising match fitness in fringe players is a good shout though <ok>

When is the game and how much do you reckon tickets will be? I reckon they should give us this match as part of the season ticket price? Fat chance of that though. Will probably charge at least £30 the scumbags!

Weren't Millwall finalists not so long ago? Or was that FA Cup?

Anyway I subscribe to the theory it was probably done to keep them away from West Ham, the last thing they need it two East London Derbies in the space of 3 weeks particularly will all that is currently going on with the riots etc <ok>

558 I highly doubt a team including any of them would be played. Warnock said in his press conference yesterday he expected a few youngsters to come through so this game will most likely feature Doughty, Andrade, German etc as well as the fringe players such as PVM, Aggers, Buz, Perone etc.
