Today the Chairboys travel along the A40 to start their festive campaign at Whaddon Road after Saturday’s washout and with no significant rain in the forecast until 3pm this game should go ahead (take your wellies and ticket !) although I thought all the roads in the West Country have been washed away. Gaz has the same selection problems as on Saturday to deal with, but Big Dave should be back and lets hope Deano too, for what will be a challenging task against the high flying Robins I’ll be more than happy with a draw <ok>

With injuries and suspensions a draw would be a fantastic result but if we win i might have to party again like Yesterday <cheers>

We have made a few of the teams high up in the the table head south so let's hope we can continue the good work. If we win this match it will be a massive triumph for GA.

just back....

really really poor today, fair result and cheltenham could even have made it more

luck was againsst us again though : scowen and dunne both going off injured didnt help and what looked like a harshly disallowed goal in the first half could have changed things

problems:

- conceding possesion far too easily : i lost count of the amount of times we just hit the ball out of defence streight back to them
- denis oli... **** he was awful today!! didnt look bothered, when the ball did come to him he promply lost it and was subsituted 60minutes too late... kuffour wasent much better but came into life a bit once morias came on
- not closing them down AT ALL... really it must have been one of the easiest games for the cheltenham midfield all season
- no strength in depth - who did we have on our bench to change the game? morias injected a bit more energy but other that that?

defensivly wasent great, mccoy was caught out too much but in fairness there was no cover from gaz by the end of the match. however wood looked fine and ive not good too much critizm for kourtney house

id also love to know where our 2 early season stars, owen goal and the lightning, went .... we could really have used them today!

lesson for cheltenham, only 200 or so sold in advance, but 504 wycombe fans turned up... dont give us rubbish again and let people pay in the day

i think rule this off as a bad day in the office, drop oli perminantly, bring back morgan and mcclure for plymouth and hope!

Just got back from today's game. Completely dominated by a good Cheltenham side who could afford the luxury of leaving two of their top scorers in Harrad and Zebroski on the bench and smarting from a 4-1 defeat last time out against Rochdale. Also, Marlon Pack was surprisingly left on the bench.

Once again injuries appear to have taken their toll on our squad with neither Morgan or Winfield recovering from hamstring strains. At least Anthony Stewart was fit enough to be on the bench but presumably Kewley-Graham was also injured as he was not on the bench.

Wycombe actually started quite brightly for the first five minutes but soon Cheltenham got the upper hand. Dunne took an early knock after being given a weak pass by Scowen, forcing him into a challenge, which resulted in him not coming back out for the second half. Sam Wood was being continually left exposed by Andrade not tracking back, which finally told when an overhead clearance from Wood fell to Jake Taylor on the edge of the box (Andrade nowhere in sight) who ran into the box and from an acute angle beat Archer high at his near post.

The game seemed to have barely restarted and Cheltenham were on the attack again. A couple of minutes later poor defending with only Goulding in the box for Cheltenham and 3-4 Wycombe players but Goulding rising above them to head home. 2-0 and pretty much game over with the lack of attacking edge offered by Oli, Kuffour and Andrade.

We held out till half time but when Dunne (expected with him still obviously limping) and Scowen (little indication at the time as to what he had done but a clear limp when he came back at the end to clap the fans) did not appear, the writing seemed to be the on the wall even more. Stewart and Ehui were the replacements.

Again Wycombe started the half brightly, with a bit more attacking intent. However, it didn't take long for Cheltenham to take charge with Duffy heading home, seemingly unmarked again to put the game beyond doubt. McGlashan finished the job with 21 minutes to go.

The introduction of Morias did seem to stir Wycombe a little but in truth this game could have been 8 or 9 nil had Archer not made a series of second half saves.

It was always going to be a big ask against a high flying Cheltenham side but with the injuries hurting our squad, compounded by further injuries in the game, the task was seemingly impossible. When you look at our bench containing a 40 year old, 20 year old, 3 18 year olds and 2 17 year olds we had little options. The big disappointments were the performance of so called experienced players in Lewis (captain for the day but non-existent), Oli and Kuffour.

Ratings:

Archer - 7.5 - Made a series of second half saves to keep the score down. From the angle I was sat at for the first goal, it looked like he could have done better but the lack of marking in the first place certainly wasn't his fault.

McCoy - 6 - Quiet but ok at times.

Wood - 7 - Battled to the end and given no protection by Andrade.

Dunne- 6 - Did ok until injured, arguably should have done better with their second goal as was one of the players surrounding Goulding.

Hause - 6 - Look composed on the ball but found the going difficult against their experienced forward line.

Ainsworth - 7 - Similar to Wood, kept running until the end and our one or two decent moves stemmed from his work.

Lewis - 4 - Captain for the day but anonymous, can honestly not remember him touching the ball.

Scowen - 5.5- Only slightly better than Lewis before going off injured at half time.

Andrade - 5- Not in the game much, offered no help to Wood. Only one decent run resulted in our solitary attempt on target towards the end.

Oli- 1 - Simply awful. A non-league player at best. Reminds me very much of Richard Harris.

Kuffour - 5 - Innocuous and never looks like scoring.

Subs:

Stewart - 6 - Solid when he came on.
Ehui - 6 - Good energy but was difficult for him to put a mark on a game largely over by half time.
Morias - 7 - Good attacking intent and actually gave their defence something to think about.
