Well,he has now been officially unveiled as the new Everton Manager. Both Merseyside Premier League Clubs are now managed by ex Swansea City managers,so we must be doing something right. He has many detractors here, but I wish him well, except against The Swans',that goes without saying. Everton have been a bit of a bogey team over the last few seasons, having won three matches, the fourth being a draw. Will Martinez change their style of play? If so,can we look for greater success against them in the coming seasons?
Martinez will face the same problems in everton as rodgers did in liverpool: he doesn't have a squad capable of playing the style (passing football) that he's interested in. That wes how one could tell from the beginning that ML would never go to everton (when that was up). I guess they've employed Martinez as a long term gameplay changer. He's got to reshape the whole club: everton will probably go down as wigan did, because Martinez doesn't bother working on the defence...
"Everton will probably go down..." That's a very brave forecast. I can't see it myself. Martinez will get sacked well before that happens.
Too be honest Everton do play good football , yes they maybe overly reliant on Fellani but all teams have a main man but their build up play is on the floor .I heard the post announcement of Talk S**te this afternoon and Ken Wright stated that Martinez had sold himself to him within 45 seconds , no change there then)
Personally i feel very sorry for the Everton fans, having to listen to bobby and his constant bullshit, Everton will be near the bottom next season, sad but true his backline will be receding faster than his hairline. One thing is for certain after the 2 everton games we will only be looking for 34 points
IMO Martinez is not the man for the job. Everton have been playing a direct style even before Moyes got there, it's in the DNA of the club, changing that takes a truely great manager. Looks like a job of the proportion Wenger (not that I like him) did at Arsenal. Direct ---> passingstyle
Martinez remit was to remove the debt at Wigan before dodgy Dave handed the club onto his Children that's why so many of their stars were sold in Martinez first year at Wigan (Cat/Valenc etc) and Martinez brought in some decent players at a fraction of the price, in two or three sales alone he reduced the DW debt by £60 Million. Now he will be going to a bigger club with more ambition, so while he'll have some teething problems initially, I think he'll be ok, though he's still clueless at defending!..........
Martinez is a good manager there is no doubt about that. But his achilles is he can not sort out any defensive issues. if Everton do lose a few layers to maybe man utd, it could be a long season for them. I dont think there is any worry of them going down, but They wont finish as high as they did this year. Good luck to him his sternest test yet.
Everton's backline are far better than Wigan's and with no-one likely to be moving on he will inherit a solid defence used to playing with each other. Leave it alone and it should function as before?
great move for Martinez imo...he has gone up another rung on the ladder in his career, He needed to get away from a small club like wigan to progress and now he can really show what has made him so admired everywhere. Everton has to give him time to change things as it wont happen over night but he should finish in the top 10 comfortably while he is building everton up.....
They are getting on a bit though Distin only got 1 year left (35), Baines might be heading to Manure, I think Jagielka is over 30 too apart from Coleman in a season or 2 he will have to start scouting for a new backline or bring youngsters through either way new players and his style isnt exactly a defensive recipe for success. Still dont think they will be anywhere near the relegation battle though.
bobby has just got wigan relegated to the championship, he has jumped ship to everton and is now promising them he will get them top 4 champions league, **** is there no end to the bullshit this one keeps spouting out, moyes failed in 11 years bobby has got no chance. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22787805
Wigan got steadily weaker when he was there ending up in relegation. I can't understand why he's rated so highly when we all know that his defensive coaching leaves a lot to be desired. I fully expect him to take Everton on a downward spiral too
Like you said liverpool would finish in the relegation fight BELOW US.... ...Laudrup is inches away from walking out the door with us .....hope not or we are ****ed...
HI Pedro ! How are you this evening huh? Hey everybody ! Dai's other poster is on tonight, say '' Hi to 'Pedro' ''
Listen scouse fan for your own good keep your gob shut and don't get into it with me. I'm on zero warnings and you're on a final one. That's one more indescretion and another ban for you. FYI I never made any predictions about last season so in future don't say I do or put words in my mouth. You really are a horrible vile little creature aren't you. Hurry up and get another ban will you the board could do without your ridicilous posts for a while
Dill it's not Daiscouser on at this time it's his other poster , mind you that nickname given him years ago says it all doesn't it?
It doesn't matter if its Dai or Pedro mate I just consider him to be a wart on the scrotum of humanity
Distin is superhuman and will play with us forever (alright about two more years). Baines is not going to Manchester United, it's only the lazy journalists reporting that. Jagielka has just been made captain and one of the best CBS in the league, will be a fixture in the side for years to come. We have a few players already to come through in defence as well in Shane Duffy and John Stones (who we spent £2-£3m on, for an 18 year old). Anything less than 7th next season will be a disappointment in terms of the league.
