Gutted for MoN, his career record demanded more time. Think he was pressured by fans into playing 2 upfront (Another manager who's buckled under our expectations) Shows the pressure is getting to much when you let the fans dictate your formation. Think he needed 4 or 5 windows to sort the squad but his dealings in January made him look like he lost the plot, even I knew Catts was going to need an operation in Jan but he signed no replacement to fill the gap and provide future competition for the DM role. Think he needed more time but did himself no favours. Looking at the timing of the sacking and who we play next and looking at who's available, I've just put twenty quid on Roberto Di Matteo to become our next manager (at 9/1). Announcment due in coming days? Sounds to me like the shortlist has already been drawn up and everything just points to this guy. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is my 1st choice but Di Matteo is my 2nd. I think with him having premier and championship experience, he would be the sensible option.
I am pissed at the moment and it is hard to believe MON has been sacked but no shock, We need a top european coach in pronto.
We need a foreign manager with new ideas and new footballing philosophies. As far as I can remember we have never had a foreign manager. I hope we get RDM or DiCanio. Though Solskjaer is a decent shout....but I think it is someone out of the job otherwise we couldn't be talking to them now without it being public. I just PRAY its not Steve F**king McClaren!
not Di Canio for me..the guy is a loose cannon. also not sure RDM...I think the true Chelsea managers then were Terry and Lampard. I reckon we will get a manager in until the end if the season..see what divsion we are in the make a full time appointment then. Given that..My bet is Short will go for Mark Hughes with the carrot of a long contract if he keeps us up...much like the Peter Reid situation
According to SSN on 7 am news McLaren, Hughes and de Mateo have not been approached. Kevin Ball anybody?
Great post mate and spot on for many of us on here. As for replacements we wont get a decent manager with only 7 games to go but number one on my list would be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. However, he isn't going to uproot for 7 games imo. He, like Poyet could well be destined for the EPL in their own right anyway next term and if we stay up, then both of those would be good appointments imo. However, I think we have just signed our relegation papers this morning so we need a Championship manager, or lower league manager. Maybe Di Canio for an 12 months contract will be the one? Its all so ****ing depressing.
