Robert Huth diagnosed with suspected meningitis

    Stoke have tweeted about 20 minutes ago that Robert Huth has been diagnosed with suspected meningitis, with the club awaiting the results of further tests.

    Very strange streak of footballers getting these sorts of illnesses, with Daniel Sturridge and Stiliyan Petrov...anyways, hopefully it's not as bad as first feared and he can make a full recovery.

    Petrov has leukemia - not strange, just very unfortunate, but he is winning his battle against it which is good to hear.

    Strangely excessive exercise reduces the body's resistance to disease...probably because in nature prolonged running and jumping usually results from fear and stress. That is one of the reasons modern training methods also concentrate on rest and recovery.
