    Whilst I realise he does not fit to the clubs blueprint of new recruits in terms of age and potential sell on fee my question is:

    Do you think if we got him on a free he'd be worth a punt?

    I'm in favour personally, he tries hard and cleary is a clever player and would plug a gap for the short term. Afterall gone are the days when we are in the market for players of the same calibre/price as shearer and owen.

    no way, he has done nothing sice that world cup/euro cup when ireland did well. When was that!? 2004?

    High wages and whatever he 'had' he lost a long time ago. Did he even get a game for west ham last year?
