sitting in the pub today watching the Grand Prix and having a beer I was idly flicking though the english version of the Caspian Business News (Extra) when I saw an article in the sports section: "Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler is heading to Thailand to play for Muang Thong United. The team manager said, 'I am sure Thai football will improve as a famous player as him agreed to play for us'. It is considered he will raise the standard of football in Thailand." Do you think we should tell them? Or let them find out for themselves?
Blobbie Fowlup, well he is a scouse mongrel, and I know they eat dogs in Korea, lets hope they do in Thailand as well, it would be nice to think of that rip off merchant in a cooking pot after failing to deliver, although he'd probably piss himself, just to spoil their meal,
Robbie's no different to a host of other 'star' players you brought in, earned fabulous wages and didn't deliver anything except a ton of debt. Individuals don't always play well as part of a team - but you know that now.
why would he go there for the money? he's one of the richest players in english football believe it or not. stop being so cynical......
As I recall he scored 6 goals in 13 games for us before needing surgery...he also left all shirt sale money to the club. Woodgate and King played less games for Spurs over two years. Shame was he had the injury.
But weren't 3 of those goals v. West Brom in the Carling and another a penalty? Having him and JFH up front was like having nobody up front. The ball would be played up, the opposing cb's would walk through them, take the ball and move into midfield putting pressure on the rest of the team. Togther they were a waste of space. JFH improved through playing with Parry who could hold the ball up, turn and attack the opposition at pace then creating space for Jimmy. If Fowler was a proper gent, he would have ripped up his contract about November time, walked away and not taken another penny from the club. All in all he was a downright bad gamble of a signing - shirt sales income or not. But I've no strong feelings on the matter.
