Before we start I know you guys have a bad memories of Cowling, but read on, you may change your mind. Recently 2 young Col. U supporters died of cancer,so before the league fixtures were announced, Robbie said he would cycle to both our first and last away games to raise money for the childrens cancer fund, plus he will run the 14 miles from his house to every home game this season, again to raise more money for the fund. Little did he realise that our first away game would be Preston and our last Carlisle. I didn't agree with some of his outbursts against Norwich, but do think the guy deserves some applause. Shall end by wishing you all the best for the coming season.
I agree, that's a hell of a thing to do so he has earned a HUGE amount of respect from me for this amazing gesture. And thanks for bringing it to our attention Monarch
Bad memories indeed! Still, fair play to him if he pulls that off. Heaven knows how far that is on roads you can cycle. A great cause, I'd happily sponsor him.
Top effort from the guy. Not flying the sympathy flag one iota here guys, but I've just completed 30 sessions of radiotherapy for a tumour in front of my voice box. Too early to say how it's worked out but at least it was caught fairly early - the oncologist said 75/80% chance of curing it - unlike the two Col Utd fans, sadly. Good luck in the extreme to Mr Cowling. I hope he gets great support from the Essex media sources and raises loads of money in a very good cause. (Good to hear from you Monarch - how's the golf going?)
Thanks, Dave, but I only mentioned it in the context of this thread - simply because it is such a random thing and can strike male or female, young or old like a bolt of lightning - and is still so prevalent, despite the increases in funding to find cures/treatments etc. Any cause raising awareness or funding deserves everyone's utmost support, because, just like the national lottery, it could be you. That is my final word on the subject
Hi Cromer, can only echo Dave's post and wish you the very best. Regards the Golf, had my society Captains Day down at Aguilon last month, had 60 players, 18 holes, buggy, bbq and unlimited beer, all for 40€, personally I played crap, but after reading your post I'm not complaining.
