I guess I wasn't the only one who was wondering about him.... http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull...jury-demons/story-21451849-detail/story.html? please log in to view this image Hull City winger Robbie Brady has been tipped to finally banish his injury demons and reach new heights in the Premier League this season. Despite starting his debut campaign in the top flight with four goals in eight games, Brady was forced to endure prolonged periods out of action last term. A hernia operation last September began a downturn in fortune for the 22-year-old, before a series of further set-backs went on to punctuate the remainder of his season. Brady has only been able to start one competitive fixture in the last eight months but did show promising signs in the closing weeks of the season when making a return to full training
Yeah hopefully he's fit and ready to go for the start of the season, he'll certainly have something to prove and could be like a new signing for us on that left wing.
I think that his hernia kept coming back and given the muscular stresses that footballers face he was literally bollocked. Although hernias are common they do not usually appear until you are a bit older than 21.
We do have a poor track record of rushing players back from injuries only to worsen the original injury. Hope Brady is back on song.
Steve Bruce has some kind of injury stigma. Wherever he goes bad injury problems are commonplace. I don't know if that's down to him, his medical team, or just pure coincidence and bad luck. But there, it's out there.
Haha, I see what you did there He was our best player at the start of last season and turned a few heads. Hope he comes back with the same confidence and slight arrogance that made him a potential star.
1. He has not been rushed back. People with no clue about injuries and their treatment trot this tired line out every frigging time. Stop it. It makes you look like a ****. 2. He's had plenty of time to get over his injury both physically and mentally 3. He's been given time, support and everything he needs in fact, by the club, to get his fitness back 4. We'll find out if he's still got the potential we all saw previously, and if he can realise it 5. He'll have half a season at most to prove himself, if he can't do it by then, he's broken and will be of no use to us 6. If he regains his old form, and builds on it, he'll become the fans favorite, a Tiger Talisman (I hope he does, I loved the way he played before)
Omega Happy, he was rushed back too soon the first time. Think it was for the Everton game, I said it at the time. He was terrible that game and it went tits up there after. I'm sure Brucey mentioned psychological issues not the injury after that. Think he was having some personal issues too.
Think the personal stuff was after the Everton game, but when he got injured the third time in Janaury which ended his season, that was a genuine, unrelated injury.
Chazz, I know exactly what you mean, but the nature of a hernia is that it can reoccur at any time. No one would be able to predict when or how it would come back. I do not think that Steve Bruce rushed him back, but that he was ready and fit. It is one of those injuries that is difficult to deal with. Meyler eludes to Brady having issues with getting his head around the injury and to be honest it is not the type of injury that many young men would be able to cope with. I remember the Everton game and I thought the same as you, but I now consider that I misjudged the situation.
http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/233257-Robbie-Brady-Back Chazz "Lets not rush him back, appealing as that is. Aim for Sunderland for his first game. He's a young lad and hernia's can and do comeback without proper R&R"
I seem to remember seeing somewhere that the last time they found another problem in a similar area which was the reason for it. I think SB thought it might be a mental issue, but in the end they did find another problem over and above the initial hernia situation.
That was a good shout and all I would change is "He's a young lad and hernia's can and do comeback even with proper R&R". I will always remember the feeling of anticipation of watching Brady and Stewart tearing defences apart. I believed at that time that we had real talent in the club and that we would be watching the foundation seasons of two star players. Brady seemed to be lagging behind and Stewart was the better player. What a turnaround. Brady has matured and if he stays fit he will be a real asset. Personally I believe that the way Steve Bruce treats his players is reflected by the spirit of the squad. A strong bond exists within the club and you can sense that the players have a genuine desire to play for Hull City and Steve Bruce.
Doctors can be arseholes these days they can say something is just a mental issue without looking further or taking something seriously
In that Everton game he just looked a different player, scared even to take a man on, scared to sprint in case of injury. I do like Brady, he has the potential just needs a long run in the team to get back to his best.
