He is a blatant cheat. Always has been and always will be. Now he wants the football world to believe that he only cheats on some occasions but not others. He goes down quicker than any tart in a brothel! But gets paid a helluva lot more for doing so.
Well he has form on this - the Champions League against Arsenal for example. I have long advocated a panel to sit after games with the power to ban someone who dived. Refereeing is hard enough with people trying to con him - impossible job to spot all of them
During the England v Uruguay I spotted at least four England players blatantly dive including a centre half. Check the comments of commentators and experts "entitled to go down, he was touched. stupid trailing a leg out ...". Standards start at home. I have seen Bristol City players obviously dive. Diving is endemic in the EPL. The FA & FL do nada about diving.
Diving, shirt pulling, arguing with ref., swearing at ref. trying to get players booked now all part of the game afraid I'm becoming a little pissed off with the win at all costs attitude at football nowadays. Wasn't it campbell that went down a few times clutching his head when losing a contest for the ball last night. Rolling over again and again until nothing given then quickly up and running about. I also love the facial expressions of players when they go down, Oh the agony! I think all defenders should carry a feather to show, that would ensure more players went down as if shot by the proverbial sniper! Oh well at least we should have some good behaviour and solid reffing at the gate next season. Sadly that will be on the other saturdays when Bristol Rugby play.
Discipline on the part of players has long since gone off the radar of acceptability and needs to be checked before it totally controls the game. Redexile sums it up perfectly when he says that the response from the players on every call is to tell the referee that the decision must go their way and they cannot understand how it could be any other way, but clearly the entire world has clearly seen which call is right. The play acting is worthy of Oscar contention and when they suddenly return to full fitness in a matter of seconds the referee should tell them that in the sole interest of their health they should take a 5 minute rest on the sideline. Another thing that really annoys me is when a player is fouled and the first thing they do is to wave a subliminal yellow card to the referee and perhaps the response they should get is one for themselves. Did you see Suarez gripping his jaw after the bite he inflicted as if to say that it was an accident and I hurt myself - total liar. He should have been sent off and the after sentence he got was totally inadequate for the games worst example of everything that is bad about football.
He also embellished the penalty in his usual way although I think there was contact, but enough to give the spot kick - who knows anymore?
