So, this post will surprise a few people.

I think Rob Hulse might come good.

Let's try and be objective. Last year we were all calling for Heidar Helguson to go, and look how well he has played this year as a target man. He's missed some, but scored 13 in a formation more suited to those behind the big man scoring and he's played some great link up stuff. He's not been perfect, but he's been good enough.

Rob Hulse (having spoken to some SU fans) did a job for them when they were in the PL and a lot of them think his injury that year was a turning point. Players don't lose the ability overnight and I think with the right support and a proper pre-season (unlike this year!) he might have a decent year. I don't want him to be our starting striker, but I think he could do a job as a squad player. The Bristol City game (way back!) showed that he still had good touches and the ability to link up play just as well as Heidar, it was his shooting that wasn't sharp. I think that can come back with a proper pre-season and NW's man management. NW doesn't often get it wrong and he may still hold out hope that this transfer too will come good.

Not every player has a great first season.

Understand that most will disagree, but then most (me included) also thought Helguson would never be part of a championship winning side!

From what I've seen of Hulse, he is a decent player, but he was up against Championship players.
I found him to be a lover of ball watching, sometimes he couldn't even read the plays,
and I was forever thinking Hulse doesn't hustle. Maybe that's his problem, maybe Warnie can show him the way,
as he has done with Adel.

Agree with most of the above. We'll need better than Hulse to survive the Prem.
Don't want to seem unkind after a great promotion season, but there are about half a dozen others that I worry about at top level.

I hear where you're all coming from, but hands up, who thought Helguson would come good?

My hand is up. I always thought that we was a good target man, good in the air, good at holding up the ball and bringing others into play.

Fair enough Ciarrai, and I believe you, but I think the majority didn't share your opinion.

How many goals did Helguson score from play this season? He ain't Prem material which means Hulse DEFINITELY ain't.

In fairness to Rob, his confidence is obviously at a very low level now.
That makes it difficult for him to take chances and so nothing good happens.
I think he needs to move to another team and make a fresh start and I do think he will eventually show what Warnock saw in him.

Season's over so let's be blunt.

Rangers won the the Championship without strikers of any consequence. Regardless of what he may but probably won't do in future, Hulse was a complete waste of space; Dave managed to break a leg and failed to recover; Miller thrilled us once, albeit at a key moment; and despite his more tangible contribution, Helguson fluffed the vast majority of opportunities and hardly terrified his opposite numbers. As for Clarke, well... never mind!

So much for then. No chance upstairs. Clear 'em all out. Get 'em gone and start again.

Did Hulse get a winners' medal?? Rough justice if he did.

I don't care if the Mittals want to waste their money on a player who looks well past his sell by date. However, I do care when that player appears in the first team squad and jeopardises our performances. HH had a desperately poor spell but was quickly sidelined. Hulse never had a good game for us and yet enjoyed a lengthy run in the team (NW's one big mistake?). If Hulse stays and somehow comes back as a winner I wil be the first to celebrate; in the meantime please just keep him out of the firing line.

BTW he is up there on my worst ever QPR strikers top 5 list. Who else is on that list?
