Liverpool line up shock move to beat Crystal Palace to Queens Park Rangers man

LIVERPOOL are lining up a shock move for Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Rob Green, according to reports.

Rob Green is the shock name on Liverpool's shortlist this month.

Jurgen Klopp, despite his insistence he has faith in his No.1 keeper, is looking at adding Green to his squad to increase competition on Simon Mignolet.

Green would come in as the Belgium's back up with Adam Bogdan not impressing when given chances so far.
The former England keeper has not played for QPR since the 2-1 defeat to Hull on January 1 - missing the following three games.

Transfer gossip: Liverpool linked with QPR keeper
    By West London Sport 18/01/2016
A round-up of the latest transfer speculation involving QPR and Chelsea…
Liverpool are lining up QPR goalkeeper Robert Green as competition for Simon Mignolet, the Evening Standard say.

West London Sport recently revealed Rangers were looking to offload Green as he is five appearances away from automatically earning himself a new contract, due to a clause in his current deal.

The Standard suggest Bournemouth and Crystal Palace are also interested in the 35-year-old, with Palace prepared to allow Alex McCarthy to go back to QPR.

I don't want ****ing McCarthy back. The fact that they would swap him for Green tells you all you need to know.

I'm off to Corinthians in Brazil, Eternal.

For Caulker & Green, perhaps Klopp doesn't see past the "England International" on their CV's.

I guess every dog has their day?

Would Klopp be interested in Sandro, a ball-playing beast they clearly lack?...<laugh>

Nah, what he needs is a marauding, highly focussed, intelligent and courageous left sided player, like Mandy Traore.

Klopp has pretty much stated categorically that he isn't looking at another keeper.

I think I'd rather have McCarthy than Green but I don't think him returning is a good option. Move on and stick with Smithies and Lumley or get the Man U lad in that's being touted about. I think that we need to get rid of Green though. For whatever reason he hasn't really fit in here.

I don't get to watch the games and most of the time, your post game comments ( ....... along with the papers ) give me overall wrap on the players and how they fared.
I was always of the opinion that Green has played many more good games than bad and that the only reason the management are trying to flog him off is because of the contract extension.

    I must be wrong.

I've never been a fan of Green and we should definitely move him on before a contract extension is triggered, but I think he deserves to be remembered for his heroics in the play-off final. Bobby Zamora is remembered as a hero for just that one game after all.

The only thing that worries me is that until a couple of games ago we persisted in playing Green with his regular errors and non existent distribution even though Smithies was available. What does that say about Smithies?
