I'm not a fan of spurious, pointless threads, but I've created one anyway. I'd just like to say how fantastic this lad has been; a leader, a voice in the defence and a tidy keeper on top.

Well played, Rob. Long may ye hold the no.1 jersey sunshine.

The lad has proven to be a good dependable keeper.

Not bad considering he started the season as third choice, and but for injuries, would probably be nowhere to be seen with fans continually having digs at him and being crap.

Stays between the sticks when Krul returns for me. He is vocal too.
The two biggest shouters yesterday were Shelvey and Elliot.

He would be massively hard done by to have to hand his first team spot back to Krul when he returns.

For me he's a better keeper than Tim.

I think Timmy is a bit better at shot stopping when he's on form, but I think Elliot beats him in other departments. He is better at commanding the box, he's better in the air, his kicking isn't great but still much better than Kruls.

Think he is doing a great job, much better than l expected him to, so fair play to him.
It's great that he is performing so well, pleased for him.
Will Tim take the jersey back when fit again? Well not so sure.
In some aspects Rob is a better keeper, for example he commands the box better and appears more vocal.
He is good at reading the game, knowing when to come for crosses and when to stay put. Its good that we are beginning to build a squad with some competition for places.

He's been a revelation. Krul should be better than him and can be but keeping is all about consistency and I can think of a few games this season where Elliott has won us the points (Bournemouth, Tottenham, etc) and not many errors. Krul has been underperforming for a long time, I think he win usurp Elliott but he'll have to win the right.

    He has done fantastically well.

Krul is a better 'keeper though.

Rob will do very well to keep Tim on the bench - really can't see it though - although it's not even an issue until next season.

Will Newcastle United be able to keep Krul anyway should we get relegated?
