I like the look of this lad still. Most players take time to bed it.

MANU Riviere ‘isn’t ready’ to carry the weight of Newcastle’s goalscoring burden, admits manager Alan Pardew.

But the Toon boss is hoping the Frenchman can learn from returning striker Papiss Demba Cisse.

Cisse had been pressed back into action a week early given shot-shy United’s shortcomings up front, and bagged two goals after replacing Riviere against Hull City to earn the Magpies an unlikely point.

We have launched a FREE football app covering Sunderland AFC, Newcastle United and Hartlepool United.

For all the latest news, gossip and match coverage straight to your mobile and tablet, download the Football Echo now from here:

“Cisse shouldn’t have played. Our medical staff didn’t agree he should be included. He trained for five days, but our eyes tell when is player is fresh, bright.

“He’s not ready for 90 minutes, but he knows how to carry the jersey.

“Manu (Emmanuel Riviere) has had to carry that shirt, and he’s not ready yet. That’s why I felt sorry for him.

“That No9 shirt is heavy, and it’s great that he’s seen the example of Papiss.

“Manu will learn from that and there is now an opportunity to rest him and for him to understand what it means to play at a big club like this.”

More f**ing gobblygook from Pardew. Admit it you t**t, he is a numpty and you even more so for buying him. I bet he cant believe his luck, on £30-40k a week with the lack of talent he has!! WTF is he on about, the weight of the jersey. the only example he was shown by Cisse on saturday was, this is how you score goals you useless c**t!! I keep saying I wont reply to his inane drivel but I cant help myself, the guy is on a different planet to the rest of us.. Pardew please f** off and crawl into a hole you absolute gobs**te!!!

I'm sure this will do wonders for Manu's confidence. Can't Pardew just talk without either being totally cringeworthy or completely embarrassing himself?

The lad has put in some of the most horrendous "shots" I've ever seen <laugh>

He can occasionally pass it five yards in absolute fairness, but... my god... not loving the pathetically weak side-foot efforts.

Come back Shola, all is forgiven!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You don't mean that. No one could mean that. Imagine him back in a Newcastle shirt? Can you picture it? The thought of it makes me want to go out and slaughter everyone in my local old people's home.

If we could somehow combine the two, we would have a semi-useful player. Manu at least has the ability to put his feet one in front of the other in more than lethargy, while Shola has a decent shot and bit of strength on him on occasion <ok> We'll call it Ameviere.

He could come back as player/manager and kill two birds with one stone - as opposed to you killing two old birds with a stoma!!

I'd love to know how the conversation between Pardew, Carr and Ashley went leading up to the last day of the window.

If Pardew felt he wasn't ready then he should have been hammering this point home, even more so given Cisse wasn't fit and Perez is only a kid. Any respectable manager would walk if they aren't given the tools to do their job (such as Pulis at Palace).

It just f*cks me off that in July Pardew is saying we're trying to put a squad together to get in the top four and come mid September he's telling us "our fans know the top six is unrealistic for us". So much sh*t spills out of his mouth. He talks so much that he forgets what he's said previously.

We know the top 6 is out of reach, so why were you mentioning the top 4 during pre season Alan, you clown. His patter is worse than his formations, set plays and team talks put together. He's a toxic smell and the sooner it's removed from our club the better.

Back on topic, as a lone striker Riviere isn't up to it. Play him with Cisse and I think he'd look a lot more of a threat.

And there lies the problem. We needed to sign a forward who was ready, but instead thought 3 chumps on the cheap would be a better idea.

Hang on did JPF just say Shola had a decent shot? I assume you've seen him at work with a catapult or gun because his ****ing feet were useless! <laugh>

I disagree with Pards and agree with him here. I agree he is not ready, however that infers at some point he will be. I am not convinced at all. Unlike Cabella who just looks a bit lightweight and lost with the pace, Riviere doesn't actually look very good. Again I find myself agreeing with JPF (which is a worrying trend in recent days, I will be seeking professional help), his shooting is pitiful. I'd love to put it down to nerves or something but I think he may just be not that good. I think Monaco saw us coming, just like Montpellier with Mbiwa.

I have to say I wish Pardew and every **** else would drop this "burden" or "weight" of the No.9. **** off. Its a ****ing shirt. Yes we have a proud tradition of having good ones down the years. One which should continue. Lets not pretend it actually affects how you play though. What a ****ing cop out. Take Demba Ba's attitude, not interested as he couldn't give a flying **** what number is on his back, he'll just score goals. Drop this stupid ****ing myth and just sign a goalscorer instead of second rate B and C internationals.

Our transfer policy is ****. I said ages ago. We have to realise at some point, you won't keep finding Demba Ba's, Debuchys, Cabayes on the cheap. More are failing than working. Bargains are great and if the right ones come up you should go for it. Not every ****ing player though. Sometimes you have to spend to get quality. Being a rocket scientist and knowing loads, I'd suggest it is handy to do this down the spine of your ****ing team.

Nothign much bothers me when managers speak, I can take it with a pinch of salt. But this whole "weight of the No.9" rhetoric is annoying.

Compared with Riviere... I mean... Come on, are we ever gonna see this goon pull away from a marker and stonk one into the corner to win a game ALA Shola vs Spurs?!

Shola was one of the most useless lumps of **** I have ever seen for any team in the world - possibly in the entire universe.

On another note - why are all these mouthbreathers sticking up for Pardew on Totalsport? Beyond sickening.

You could have had a Leandro Ulloa for 2m more. 28 yr old, been playing in England a while, scores for fun. What about Daniel Agger? He has gone back to Brondby. Only 29 yr old, has masses of PL experience and played well last season when given the chance. Obviously its nice if you can get English players and I still think the likes of Hughes, Thorne are decent players to look at for that central midfield area. Obviously we have young Lascelles and Darlow. We could also have looked at Assombalonga who went for only 5.5m. Or why not get Best back on loan to help give the others time to settle. We know he is no world beater, but we also know he is capable of doing a job short term.

Looked ok pre-season, finding it hard to adjust to the realities of the premiership, may come good given time to adjust like many or may not make the switch as many have failed to do as well, don't see anything other than that in this.

Did someone mention SHOLA coming back.

Please, please, please let it be TRUE.

Seriously, its an understatement from Pardew that he's not ready, but what does he expect sticking him up there by himself with minimal support.
He was never going to be ready for the way he's being asked to play.
If the lad ends up with all confidence knocked out of him, only person to blame is Pardew.

    Bring back the SHOLA God.....Now

    Pulled away from his marker????????

    <yikes>

He moved, tripped over his own feet, slipped on a dry pitch, staggered to one side, caused his shadow to go the wrong way never mind any marker even God didn't have a clue where he was going next, put a foot out to stop from falling over accidentally kicking the ball but still managed to slice it away from where he didn't mean it to go in the first place, the ball hit a divot which had been caused by a stampede of snails trying to get out of Shola's way ( and managing to do so ) and went in off the post.

    :emoticon-0145-shake

Please, please, please never ever , even in jest, suggest the return of the Fenham assassin.
