Seems some amendments were approved on 15/10/2014 (not major) but it might prove that the project is progressing and might get started next summer.

Looks like some seats in S Block and Z Block will be lost to put in wheelchair stairwell access on the Lower stands.

Some really good documents in this Link:

I guess it is best to go ahead now while in the Championship, with any delays during the summer fans in the Riverside could be accommodated in other stands till completion.
The problem would be if it were not completed and we went upto the Priemier we'd have a reduced capacity till completion, not good for the finances.

To be realistic, I don't think we will be going back up this year. It's very encouraging that the work could go ahead still, though.

I know what you mean, and we might be better prepared for returning to the Premier League for spending a couple of seasons in the Championship (not that I'm assuming we go up next year either!). That said, teams have got promoted out of this league from worse positions than where we are now. Norwich were top when we played them, and they've slipped all the way to 7th since then. Bournemouth were mid table a month or so ago, and now they're top (don't like to say I told you so, but I said they were one to look out for!). The point is, it's a volatile league where a team who goes on a consistent winning run can go a lot further than they think. We only need to finish in the top six to have a chance, don't forget. That's entirely achievable. A win tonight takes us up four places (five if we win by 2 goals or more).

Oh yes, I quite agree. There is nearly always the team toward the end of the season who go on a winning streak and sprint up the league and into the play-offs at the expense of someone whose been in the top 6 all season.

Also agree that at least a year here would be good for us. Would be quite happy for us to bob up next season, though, if it happened.

I do feel sorry for Mr Khan in some respects. He wanted a Premiership club to align with his NFL. The advert on the Jaguars site recently which read win the ultimate sporting weekend tickets for Jacksonville Jaguars Vs San Francisco (or whoever, forget who) and then tickets to Fulham Vs Huddersfield Town would have been a lot more ultimate if it had been Fulham Vs Chelsea or Man Utd, or Man City, which is what he envisioned when he bought us, I'm sure. If things don't quite go to plan he could even end up with a League 1 club (although I'm sure he won't). Bad decisions have cost him dear.

Coming full circle back to the post title, funny how conversation drifts.

I seem to recall the club saying that the capacity would remain as it is during the stand replacement. Maybe seats attached to an Acro prop though! (they didn't say that though). The sooner it's done the better IMO.

According to the Evening Standard development of the Riverside wont start until after the end of season 2015/16. In this short piece they don’t give any details about the letting of contracts or in fact anything specific, other than an outline of the proposals (which we already know).

    Standard article: http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/foo...and-expansion-after-next-season-10013924.html

Assuming what they say about the date is correct, one obvious question is how the Club will circumvent expiry of planning permissions? And, one obvious conclusion is that the Club (ie Shad Khan) has set promotion next season as a priority or if you’re a cynic, a condition !!
