Without Bale Spurs are toothless. They huff and puff but with so little finesse they may plod their way to victory.
Our midfield others so little but work rate.
Bale lifts the whole quality and without him we would be mid table .(next season sounds fun)
what we lack in the entire team Sidney, are goalscorers. We have a lot of grit and determination but haven't got anyone who can conjure up something out of nothing when we need it the most, and win us the game.
Sig has got a few recently, but i wouldn't say we could rely on him to pop up with a goal.
Dembele does the "shimmy left" dance routine but never shoots.
Dempsey's hit the corner flag or he stubs his toe.
Adebayor's shots are like a 5 year old passing it to the goalkeeper.
and parker just...can't shoot...
a "20 goal a season striker" is a term used quite often and it's true. This season has been a little different in terms of stats, as there's players who are no where near 20, but their club is still doing particularly well.
The point here is that they have strikers who bag goals. We might laugh at Torres, but as
strikers, he and Ba have over 20 prem goals between them. Do Ade and JD?! Also, They have the likes of Mata and Lampard who score goals for fun. (11 & 12 respectively)
Dzeko might be City's leading scorer with 12, but does it matter? No, because Aguero and Tevez each have 10.
Arsenal have Cazorla, Giroud and Walcott with 12,11,11. - I expect Podolski is on about 9 or 10 too. I'm not really sure who Arsenal class as "strikers" a they tend to just have "forwards", but the point being that there is still 40 odd goals there, before you consider the ones that the defence etc end up chipping in.
Dempsey was bought as an emergency striker. so if we put him into that category, our strikers have 18 leads goals between
3 of them. And yet we, and other football fans laugh at Torres?
All of this is proven by out inferior goal difference, which at the end of the season will be worth a point or two in the league. Yet, despite it not being the first time we've been short of fire power, we still see no evidence of sorting this issue.
We don't deserve and can't expect to finish top 4 when we're barely at the races.
However, "Toothless" and "1 man team" are terms used against us which I think are very harsh (not saying that you said "1 man team", sidney), as there are still players in our line up who we're heavily reliant on (Dembele, Parker, Lennon, Verts, Lloris)
"1 match winner" however, is fair comment, IMO.
