So according to a Millwall-supporting mate (who I've torn a new one on FB for the **** he;s posting)...
* Those cheering Thatcher's death deserve a kicking
* Those cheering Thatcher's death caused the riots
* You need ID cards now so Thatcher was right with her ID card scheme
* Some people are out to cause trouble

After pointing out the obvious double standard of encouraging Millwall fans to beat people up because other people are out to cause trouble, and the ridiculous crap about the riots, I think I'll be getting unfriended tonight...

Also, when I was up in London earlier they were filling London Bridge. Anyone got a rat analogy?

A group claimed it reanlyzed games with close decisions and awarded points based on what they should have been if rhe decisions were awarded fairly. I'm skeptical myself. Nevertheless, the final tally had Spurs in third with 75 points, Arsenal in fourth with 72 (and both with more points than they actually got last year.)

There is no "all else being equal" principle that applies in real life.

If those decisions would have been made correctly in the game the whole game would have gone differently, and not necessarily in the "wronged" team's favor. For example Arsenal are better than Spurs at getting back from a disadvantage, and we do better in the late (defining) stages of a game. If a dubious call in our favor in the beginning of a game won us the game by 1 goal advantage no one could say that the game would end in a draw if that call had been made differently. And that applies to every team. 100s of factors at play.

Saw loads crawling out my town centre with a few Arsenal too.

People just don't get it with Thatcher, we've been over this so I won't drag it up again but it's easy to sit back from afar and criticise the anti-Thatcher protests but its a different ball game if she had a direct impact on your family.

The type that want to incite violence against anti-Thatcher protesters are the same kind of scum that spout ****e like "We went to war with Iraq to fight for democracy of the Iraqi people", yet want to deny freedom of speech isn't their own country.

I know your on about the debatable decisions group but that's completely subjective and also doesn't take into consideration the emotion of the game, there are too many variables in football to draw a definitive conclusion, it's not like Tennis or even Golf.

Freedom of speech is one thing, celebrating the death of someone who has family - grandchildren etc, is another. I don't want to restart this whole thing, but to rejoice in the passing of somebody who was P.M. before you were even born, is just cretinous. Even if you were directly affected, show some ****ing respect for the family!..

I don't think any other lino in the league thinks he's in a position to make that penalty call regardless of who it went to. Jones should've shown more backbone and said he saw the situation and there was nothing in it.

The lino got Zamora sent off for QPR, they showed Dowd going over to speak to him and you could lip read the lino say 'red card', after a very brief pause when Dowd must have asked something like, 'you sure', the lino immediately said '100%, red card'.

I think a ref would think long and hard about undermining a decision made by his assistant, that he wasn't sure of himself.

Its no more lucky than the Chavs last win with 2 deflections, so I'm not the least bit surprised nor annoyed, the Goons were always going to win, the manner is largely irrelevant. If the same thing had happened to us we'd have missed the pen and gone to lose, or scrape an injury time draw, and there's been a few examples of that recently. :(

Just been watching the Goon- Norwich game on MOTD. What a joke!...100% never a corner, 90% never a penalty. The third goal is clearly offside - the same dick of a linesman was level with that play, yet gives nothing!..the guy is either bent, or completely incompetent. Whichever way, he shouldn't be officiating top level football.

There's a difference between luck in play and being gifted a win by people that aren't physically involved in the game I.e officials

Mr. Tangent utters the blatantly obvious again!, there is no 'difference' in the intended context of both of you getting 3pts from luck, and the operative word is luck, not how it manifests itself. You don't read very well do you.

Statistics show you are more reliable on Bale than we are on Mata. We've still got quality outside him but he's by far our best player at the moment for sure

No, they don't. When Bale doesn't start our 50% win rate drops to 40%. When Mata doesn't start your 60% win rate drops to 19%.
It's not even close.

As for Arsenal benefiting from dodgy officials, what's new? Goalline technology won't affect that, either.

Can't remember who mentioned it, but we have had one penalty this season v Norwich in the Carling Cup. Dempsey missed it.
We've had three given against us, Chelsea have had 9 and 1 given against them and Arsenal have had 6 given and 5 against, I think.

Spurs haven't won a game Bale hasn't scored in since New Year's Day, without his goals you'd be 19 points worse off and without Mata's we'd be 9 worse off. A higher percentage of Spurs goals come from Bale than ours from Mata (by some way too).

We've had a fair few pens but they tend to be in games we are winning comfortably. Games like QPR away where we drew 0-0 we were denied 2 stonewall pens. There are no pens we've had that I know of that have even been as much as controversial, nothing like the Cazorla v WBA and Giroud v Norwich anyway.

Bale scores important goals, but Mata absolutely runs your team. A 40% drop in win percentage says it all.

I'd discuss the timing and validity of our penalties in the league, but we haven't had any.

It is surprising Spurs haven't been awarded any penalties, but I still don't accept the conspiracy theories.

The better teams ought to get more awards because they spend more time in the opposition penalty area, their players are more skilfull and fearful defenders are more likely to make rash challenges or try to push the boundaries in terms of breaking the rules. Over time, the top sides should get more penalties, but the stats don't always support this. THFC6061 has the stats on his site if you want to look.

Arsenal have conceded more penalties than you might expect by playing a high line, but then getting caught out when they fail to play offside. With a carthorse like Mertesacker exposed for his lack of pace, last ditch mistimed tackles should not be wholly unexpected.

Without Bale Spurs are toothless. They huff and puff but with so little finesse they may plod their way to victory.
Our midfield offers so little but work rate.
Bale lifts the whole quality and without him we would be mid table .(next season sounds fun)

Looks like Arsenal's second came off two boots so partially an own goal, they're getting Chelsea's luck.

Mixed reports in the gossip about Jose staying/leaving Real, they want AVB and Bale will leave if we don't get CL. Leave Bale if you want to and we'll replace you with the dosh we get for you. Go to Chelsea Jose, you won't be there long and a second stint at a club rarely works, ask Robbie Keane.

what we lack in the entire team Sidney, are goalscorers. We have a lot of grit and determination but haven't got anyone who can conjure up something out of nothing when we need it the most, and win us the game.
Sig has got a few recently, but i wouldn't say we could rely on him to pop up with a goal.
Dembele does the "shimmy left" dance routine but never shoots.
Dempsey's hit the corner flag or he stubs his toe.
Adebayor's shots are like a 5 year old passing it to the goalkeeper.
and parker just...can't shoot...

a "20 goal a season striker" is a term used quite often and it's true. This season has been a little different in terms of stats, as there's players who are no where near 20, but their club is still doing particularly well.
The point here is that they have strikers who bag goals. We might laugh at Torres, but as strikers, he and Ba have over 20 prem goals between them. Do Ade and JD?! Also, They have the likes of Mata and Lampard who score goals for fun. (11 & 12 respectively)
Dzeko might be City's leading scorer with 12, but does it matter? No, because Aguero and Tevez each have 10.
Arsenal have Cazorla, Giroud and Walcott with 12,11,11. - I expect Podolski is on about 9 or 10 too. I'm not really sure who Arsenal class as "strikers" a they tend to just have "forwards", but the point being that there is still 40 odd goals there, before you consider the ones that the defence etc end up chipping in.
Dempsey was bought as an emergency striker. so if we put him into that category, our strikers have 18 leads goals between 3 of them. And yet we, and other football fans laugh at Torres?

All of this is proven by out inferior goal difference, which at the end of the season will be worth a point or two in the league. Yet, despite it not being the first time we've been short of fire power, we still see no evidence of sorting this issue.

We don't deserve and can't expect to finish top 4 when we're barely at the races.

However, "Toothless" and "1 man team" are terms used against us which I think are very harsh (not saying that you said "1 man team", sidney), as there are still players in our line up who we're heavily reliant on (Dembele, Parker, Lennon, Verts, Lloris)

"1 match winner" however, is fair comment, IMO.
