They've always had a pretty handy academy, which both gives them a few years of good young talent while also being a useful goldmine for when the Old Firm inevitably come calling

James McFadden, Phil O'Donnell and Stephen Pearson are some notable names who came through the ranks

They’d have sold him weeks ago if they could but he doesn’t want to leave. They owe him money and he knows he’ll probably play if he stays because he’s only being forced out for financial reasons and so Barca can go on pretending their accounting books aren’t completely on fire by buying big players.

As we at Spurs have found many times over the years, it’s very difficult to force a player out of the club, it’s especially even harder when the coach doesn’t want him to leave. Xavi will want to play De Jong if he’s at the club.

I get the feeling he’s a player they can’t afford to lose.
And whatever his motives are for moving to Utd - well, they’re lost on me!

Maybe getting his full wage every week?
Playing in the best league in the World might be a bit of an incentive or playing for a manager he has had considerable success with in the past.

Think they’ve only won 3 games in 2022. Not many of their fans will miss him.

I can’t sugarcoat things now he’s our player, lol.

Couldn’t stand him at Everton, easily the player I hated most in the Prem, so it’s such a weird feeling now having to support him. Though he’s already annoyed me a few times with his diving in pre-season, a shame too because despite not scoring he’s done some really nice things and in time should work well with our other forwards.
