I think that the issue was actually with the manager, rather than any area of the team.
Roeder had an undiagnosed brain tumour and he wasn't getting the best out of his players, understandably.
They had four talented strikers (Defoe, Kanoute, Di Canio and Ferdinand), yet none of them hit double figures in the league.
The midfield doesn't even explain it, as they had a solid bunch of players there and decent depth.

Yeah, probably the most talented side to go down and brooking nearly got them out of it.

Huddersfield beat West Brom on Friday to basically ensure their survival in the Championship, barring a ridiculous set of results on the final day.
They've now decided to sack their manager. <doh>

It appears that they've started a trend too, as Watford just sacked Nigel Pearson.
Both clubs were in deep **** earlier in the campaign when they took over.
They're now on the verge of staying up and the season is nearly finished.
Ludicrous stuff.

Modern football is a cut throat business, nothing surprises me anymore

Bournemouth think that they have an injury time equaliser against Southampton, but they get VARred for offside.
The Saints immediately go up the other end and score a second. Ouch.

A bit like our previous game against Leicester when we had a goal ruled out for offside and they went and scored. That VAR decision (I think you're supposed to pretend they don't have knock on effects) kind of killed off Poch and started Leicester on their CL run (IMHO).
