...so does that mean all their players want to sign for us in the summer?

At the start of the season I would have taken 3rd again without question, but now I feel that we must finish (at least) 2nd to maintain progress. It has been a fantastic season in the premier league we have played some fantastic football but if we let it slip in the final 4 matches again it will just look as though we have not moved on from last season.

I want us to beat United next week and remain unbeaten in the last 3 finishing the season strongly and making a strong statement that we didn't just get to match 35 and hit the wall again.

If we don't finish 2nd, by capitulating as badly as we did last season, the usual idiots on the Prem Board will taunt us with yet another Summer of "Spurs came 3rd in a two-horse race!"

Best make sure we don't have Alli and Dembele suspended for those games then.

Funny how that part constantly gets overlooked. How many teams could play at the same level with their equivalent players suspended?

They were ranting on about how badly United had missed key players through injury like Smalling and Jones this season, as an excuse for Utd not doing better in the PL....... FFS!! <laugh>

Scunthorpe out of the play-offs to Millwall who finished nine points below them.
Imagine if they decided the CL places in this way?

Utd's problem lately has been the never ending grind of two games per week, nine months into the season. It would take its toll of any team.
Bailly was rested. He has been Utd's best defender in the past two months.
Rashford was rested. He has been Utd's best forward.
There are a number of players out injured, playing with injuries or in need of a rest.
Players like Jones and Smalling, who have been out for a while, can't be expected to perform at their best instantly.
There were eight changes to the team. Lack of continuity in selection makes for disjointed performances.
But if Utd win a second trophy of the season and with it gain CL qualification, there will be few Utd fans complaining about the way the PL season is tailing off.

Could be worse - imagine missing out on CL qualification because UEFA neglected any contingencies for what would happen if a member of their closed shop won the tournament yet failed to qualify for next season's tournament via the league.

I get what you are saying but that doesn't take into account the fact that all other teams have injuries or that United have spent over £170m this season to strengthen. Also successful teams play 2 matches week in week out.

However 2 trophies and CL qualification is a good season imo.
What would your view be IF United do not qualify for the CL?
