Chelsea have a good midfield but are lacking in other areas. Their strikers are simply not good enough. Reinforcements in defence are also something the need as Cahill, Luiz and the ever aging John Terry just don't cut it for me. The area between midfield and attack, where the likes of Oscar, Hazard and Mata are likely to be found is where they have real quality and should they get a capable striker like Lewandowski they will do well. With Mourinho back the whole club will be lifted. A major threat both at home and in europe if a striker is brought in.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Ins & Outs

    Rafa Benitez - (Out)

The unwanted man eventually left Chelsea fans asking if he deserved another year. Won a trophy and scraped top 4 so left on a high.

    Jose Mourinho - (In)

The self proclaimed 'special one' returns to his old club in a different state to the one he first joined almost a decade ago. He's already playing the press and saying all the right things so will go down well at Chelsea. On the managerial side we don't really need to discuss Mourinho's ability. Hes a winner pure and simple and will bring back the fear at Chelsea.

    Andre Schurrle - (In)

Not the player to address their striker problems imo.

    Cristian Cuevas - (in)

Young lad from Chile. Don't know much about him. Chelsea fans feel free to educate me on the lad.

Marko Marin (Seville, loan ) Todd Kane (Blackburn, loan), Thibaut Courtois (Atletico Madrid, loan), George Saville (Brentford, loan), Amin Affane, Yossi Benayoun, Abdul Deen-Conteh, Paulo Ferreira, Hilario, Florent Malouda, Archange Nkumu, Ross Turnbull (all released)

    Overview

The Mourinho factor makes them our biggest rivals for the title. e will bring back the determination in the league that Chelsea have lacked for all but a few seasons since he left. No more 5th places or battles for 4th. Once he gets a striker Chelsea will be on our heels. Whether gets a striker to do the job remains to be seen.

    Prediction

2nd in the League & Champions League Semi-Finals. ( if they get a striker )

re Benitez - dunno if we scraped fourth, we were in the driving seat for 3rd for quite a while.

re Schurrle - you would be correct, he isn't the player to address our striker issues, mainly because he's a winger!

Not too sure about Cuevas, never seen him but I imagine he'll be like all the other unheard of players who sign for us - remaining unheard!

Can't disagree with the rest though, we definitely need a striker, CM and a CB.

Thought he was a striker <laugh> Wiki has him down as a forward so maybe thats where I went wrong.

How much would you love to have the old Essien back?

A lot! Someone like him would be perfect. I am excited about Chalobah though who I believe has potential to be our best defensive midfielder since Makelele. I have a feeling we'll end up with Fellaini, who I wouldn't be opposed tbf. This van Ginkel looks a good prospect too.

Fellaini would be the safe option. Hes linked with United as well but mainly because of Moyes. wouldnt be a terrible signing but I hope we aim higher.

I didnt address the midfield issue enough tbh, with Mikel gone you are pretty weak in the middle. Something Jose will address in the next few weeks I am sure.

Yeah same with us, bit overpriced.

I also reckon we could sign Khedeira, who I reckon would be a step down from Mikel.

Would Madrid be happy having Jose come looking for players after what happened?

You should sign Alonso. I know hes getting on a bit but just imagine the millions of scousers frothing at the mouth in disgust.

Probably not but Khedira is a bit of a fringe player.

<laugh> No ta! He'd only end up ****e like the rest of them who've joined us.

True. would be a good option in terms of someone to ping balls to your rather good attacking midfielders though. Torres would probably cry with happiness until Jose told him he's been sold to QPR for 3 greggs sausage rolls.

Can't understand why people keep saying Chelsea's strikers are poor. Demba Ba is excellent!

Chelsea have a very, very good side. Shows how **** was Rafa was for them.

Good player but like you say, getting on a bit. In all seriousness I wouldn't say no

No we haven't? Torres is poor and Ba has been awful in general since joining us. Ba should be given a chance next season of course but he's not a title winning striker like RVP or Aguero. Then of course there's Lukaku who I don't believe is ready to lead a title challenging side just yet.

Ba is decent but not right for Chelsea. The type of player who excels at smaller clubs but is way out of his depth in the big time.

Of course they could win it. I'm just stating my opinion they will finish second.

tbh I hope we win it, that is only thing i can be sure of .... but it is too open to guess who will come 1st or 3rd .. all will depend on which manger will fit faster to the current squad in the club

If Chelsea sign a striker I reckon they will walk the league. I am not convinced with City at all and I think United will struggle to retain considering it is Moyes' first season in charge. As for Arsenal, we will do well to even mount a challenge.

    Higuain <wah>

There are other strikers out there that can improve them though, Cavani, Jackson Martinez, Soldado, Negredo, Ibrahimovic (rumors he wants out), even Mario Gomez.
