According to this article the rival deal would make ã25 million immediately available to McCoist to invest in the team. The big drawback would be that it doesn't clear the debt with Lloyds. We would continue to pay back the debt in instalments (assuming Lloyds accepted the deal).
While we desperately need to strengthen the squad and the ã25 million is very tempting, the Lloyds debt has been a real monkey on our backs for the last few seasons. Given all that is publicly known about the 2 bids at the moment, I think I'd rather we went with the Whyte bid and cleared our debt.
