I really don't get this one. He has done a really good job for us. He is 28. If he was say 31 I could understand cashing in. Yes he would have liked to played better last season overall and scored more goal. However all three of his goals came in crucial home wins against Arsenal, Southampton and Man U. I think Rafa will keep him.
Not his biggest fan but agreed it'd be a silly move to let him go. Impressed tail end of the season and he's obviously a big voice in the dressing room. Get's distracted by shouting at others on the pitch sometimes but can't fault him for not trying.
I personally would sell him for this sort of price. A tad overrated however are we going to get someone in just as good or better? No!
Awesome in the Championship and decent in the Premiership. I'd be very wary of who we had in to replace him, he's a solid 6 to 6.5 out of 10 player. That is decent money but only really gets you a Josh Murphy (Or Jacob).
Madness to sell great pro, runs his bollix off ,fights for the team and gets crucial goals must be kept imo.
I agree, but he was underwhelming last season and if there someone better for a similar/little bit more price then it would make sense. I'd take Townsend over Ritchie for example if it was only costing us £5m or a bit more for the upgrade. Totally different level of player.
I would take their hands off for £15m. If we're considering letting him go then we must have something lined up by way of a replacement. The corner flags will sleep easier at SJP as well I would imagine !
Don't get rid. For all his flaws, he's a useful player who finished the season joint-top on assists. There'll be a time we outgrow Ritchie, but it's not now. Time's running out to overhaul the team so I expect us to start next season still needing an RM who takes responsibility in defence. We've already lost that on the left in Kenedy, dont fancy losing Ritchie aswell.
What bugs me is that Townsend has had a couple of chances to come back and simply not taken them. I just don’t wanna see another Thauvin scenario.
Talking about dirty thieving lowlife, I was in Morrisons this morning and the security guards got wind of a bloke who was up to no good. They collared him on the way out, he had a bottle of Smirnoff rapped in a jumper. They got the bottle off him and pushed him out of the shop. He wasn't nicked, apparently a £16 bottle of vodka isn't deemed enough to charge someone
