From the Beeb:

Oldham Athletic have confirmed that midfielder Ritchie Jones was ordered home by player-boss Paul Dickov prior to Saturday's 1-1 draw at Yeovil.

The 24-year-old midfielder reacted after being told he was not in the team and, after leaving a pre-match training session, he was put on a train home.

A club statement said that Dickov was unwilling to accept Jones' behaviour.

The statement added that the manager and player would be further discussing the incident this week.

Jones was signed by Dickov on a free transfer on a two-year deal last summer following his release by Hartlepool.

Stockport-born Jones started his career with Manchester United as a schoolboy.

After coming through the ranks, he made five appearances in cup competitions, going out on loan to Colchester, Barnsley and Saturday's opponents Yeovil, before being released from Old Trafford in the summer of 2008.

Looks like he said something he shouldn't have. Good on Dickov for putting his foot down and keeping his players in line.
