Chinese whispers, possibly originating in SE16, suggest Scallywag is pulling out all the stops for promotion to Championship.
If achieved, he will then sell up. Motive....not known.

The motive obviously has to be money.
I'm fairly sure that Mr.S was looking to sell the Club about the time we were relegated from the Championship - but relegation to L1 made us 'worthless'.
He has spent much time looking for financial backing - seemingly with no success. There has been other problems, for years, relating to a new stadium. There appears to be no realistic money coming our way ( without selling our best players ).
For a couple of season L1 hasn't been of a high standard - and we have missed reasonable chances to get promotion. In the last couple of weeks - with the signings we have made - ( Konchesky, JET & O'Hara ), it would seem that Mr.Scally has given reasonable financial backing to the manager - hopefully enough to at least remain in the top 6.

...... and if we do get promotion, I wouldn't be surprised if Mr.Scally tries to sell the Club - because we will be in the same position as we were when last in the Championship - a small club with nobody pumping in any money - and a ground not really fit for purpose. If we get the full approval for a new stadium, as per the plans, Mr.Scally still needs to find the money -- and if he can't, then it would be a reasonably attractive proposition for a new buyer(s).

I won't cry if Mr.Scally 'sells up' - provided it is to investors who are better placed to progress the Club -- because without that progress we will always yoyo between L1 & L2. ............... that might not necessarily be a bad thing !! The cost of matchday tickets will probably rise by over 30% again if we get promoted...... will any of us get a 1% pay rise this year ?
