Just heard the news. Very sad. The end of the end of an era. A legend.

There goes one of the true legends of motorsport. It makes me quite sad to think he's gone. We'll just not see his kind again. It's a crying shame the team isn't still in the family.

Thanks for the memories, and for helping Nige get that title!

never a fan, but there's no denying that for nearly 2 decades he was one of the best, and if the FIA hadn't banned his gearbox before it was finished, it could've been 3.

Sad that he has passed but in a way nice that he let the team go. It would have been very sad had the team been sold after his death.
I have to admire his determination but I'm not sure I would have liked to work for him.

I must say I feel for Claire Williams tonight. The last year or two must have been very tough.

Yes . Can’t have been easy for her .

I’m sure Sir Frank was no angel , but what a legacy he and Sir Patrick have left behind .

Maybe just a bit to stubborn in the last few years ?

The way he treated both Mansell and Hill really pissed me off at the time. The fella was ruthless, but boy was be successful.

Hopefully the name Williams remains in the sport and they can find success again down the road. Just a pity it will be by name only while it's around.

    Yes .

that’s the sort of thing I was getting at , plus he seemed very VERY stubborn . If he was never around , the team would never have existed .
I hope I’m coming across in such a way that I agree with you .

A giant of the sport, hopefully F1 can do something to commemorate as this season closes.

His passing comes as no surprise and thoughts go to his family. He showed the same determination towards his disability as he did in his approach to racing. He was a tough cookie but you can not be successful in F1 and be Mr (or Ms) Nice all the time. I was a fan of Williams and was disappointed to see the slide of team Williams in more recent times. It shows that Teams are very susceptible to the strength and knowledge of a few within a team. This will be more true in the era of budget control. He was a legend and I expect/hope there will be a moment this weekend when the paddock will fall silent in his memory.

Forgive me Ern but what was the gearbox all about? Sounds interesting!

RIP Sir Frank and condolences to all of the family. What an incredible few cars they had - that Rothmans livery in the 90s was just beautiful.
