Amazing player despite his demons. A natural left footed player, that due to his small but strong build was able to turn players inside out - that latter being the benefit, watch how often he does it in video footage, keeps a player to his right side, with the ball glued to his left. As if that wasn't enough his right foot was full of tricks a pure master at controlling the ball.

Yeah ok, the hand of god and all that, but fate decided that was his route to fame for his beloved Argentina, afterall never forget the second goal he put in the net, he sliced through England like a knife through butter.

Pele had Brazil, Maradona had just himself. I saw a list yesterday, he was listed as the second best left footed player ever, guess who was number one, Messi!

Unlike players today, he didn't fall down and cry, until the day he met the Butcher of Bilbao, who knew there was only ever going to be one way to stop the 5ft 4 genius.

Undoubtedly an incredible footballer - just imagine how good he could have been if he used his right foot for more than just standing on, but also a cheat (not only on the pitch), holder of some very dubious acquaintances, and a druggy. Nevertheless I do feel strangely sorry for him, as he'd be much better guided and cared for if he were starting out now (unless, perhaps, he signed up with Mino Raiola to represent him).

To me, a classic case of you can take the boy out of the slums, but you can't take the slums out of the boy.
