    Actor Richard Johnson has just died at the age of 87, following a short illness.

    He was a very talented actor, who famously turned down the role of James Bond. He was in Mark Herman's brilliant film Boy In The Striped Pyjamas in 2008.

    'Boy in the Striped Pyjamas' was one of those films so good it was barely watchable, heartbreaking. Yeah I know it was only a film but...

    Kind of, just replace the nazi camp commandants with teddy bears and an anti semetic tutor with the Rat in the Hat and you've got yourself vintage 90's kids television.

    If you haven't seen it, you should track it down, not only is it brilliant, but it was also directed by a City fan.

    I always thought that him being an archetypal Englishman he'd have made a good, old style, James Bond.
