Apparently he was on TS on the day of the heart attack.

Sad, sad news, by all accounts was just a lovely bloke who lived for the game. One of the few pundits who spoke and you listened and thought - "I agree".

Damn, seemed like such a nice and genuine bloke, clearly lived for the game.

Was expecting the worst when I first heard he'd had a bad cardiac arrest, but it's still a shock.

Very sad about this he seemed like an absolutely top bloke. One of the very best to listen to when he was on TV talking football.

Great player as well. Remember his performances at World Cup in 1982. Criticised a lot for being negative but every team needs someone like him. Not a midfield destroyer - just read the game very well.
Just hope you can get to heaven going sideways.

Far too early to go. A top bloke by all accounts. Always remember his goal against Belgium in 1980 in what was an otherwise dire tournament.

    RIP Butch.

Had TalkSport on for the last couple of days and the consistent 'theme' has been that the guy was an absolute gent in just about every situation. He had his demons also but it seems like he was a genuine guy that helped, encouraged and inspired an awful lot of young footballers.
