My 5 year old Westie passed away last night suddenly and unexpectedly. Am absolutely in bits about this. She was the cutest little dog you could ever ask to meet and I’ve spent most of the day in tears!! She’s the first dog of my own I’ve lost. Anyone who’s ever lost a pet. I feel for you. The pain is unreal
You have my sympathies Marcus...Dogs are a huge part of the family, I had a black Labrador for 15 years, cried like a baby for days when he went...I feel your pain mate.
Cheers Flanders. I have so much work on I couldn’t take the day off. But I’ve been useless here at work. Mind is in bits
Really bad news, 5 is very young to lose her. I sometimes look at Saffie and worry about that day, but hoping it's a long way off. Their lives are just too short
Sympathies mate. We (my wife) has a guide dog but he may be going soon as he really doesn't like guiding. I'm already gutted about the thought of him going. Sorry for your loss.
The little cavishon in my avitor. He has just had his cruci ligament repaired on Tuesday He’s sill in pain he was crying on Tuesday It’s my daughters dog. My wife has spent two days at her house looking after him while she’s at work. I feel she will be looking after him for a few more days
Cheers everyone for your thoughts. Just done the really hard bit and told our 7 year old. She’s devastated. Was the little one of our crop of dogs and the second youngest too. My lad didn’t bat an eyelid. But that’s the teenage generation really isn’t it!!
We had a cat for 17 years and she was part of the family, one cat went missing and we never found her, that was awful because we did not know whether she was alive or not. My mother's favourite dog was a westie we have put porcelain figures on her grave, lovely little dogs, and sad to hear of your loss.
Pets are a nightmare. They worm their way into your heart and rip it apart when they go. I remember being devastated when my cat died when I was a kid. My mum got her when I was just 6 months old and he died when I was 17. Grew up with him. I feel for your loss Marcus. And for your little girl. Best way to get over it is to get a new pup in a few weeks. They won't replace the lost animal but they're a welcome distraction.
The main reason I got a tortoise! It'll probably outlive me. What a bonny looking dog Marcus! Very sad!
From one dog lover to another, I'm so sorry for your loss. 5 years old is no age for a dog and it's a sad reminder to me that my time with Skye is short. I take her to the shop everyday and I've got her tattooed on my chest. I couldn't imagine life without her so you and your family are certainly in my thoughts.
I feel for you. There's something about dogs that really gets to you. My staff is getting on and I often look at her and wonder about when it's going to happen and every time I get choked up.
Sorry fella. Grew up with a Westie bitch named scamp, aquired taste she was but i've never been big on dogs. Lived to about 16/17. 5 year old is no age, really sad mate sorry.
Lost my 4 year golden lab 19th march after an emergency op. Still go out for a walk every night, now on my own, as I can't not. People still come up to me asking where's Charlie? Nearly burst into tears in the street the other night. Bloody dogs.
My sympathies. Best dog I ever had was when I lived in Sunderland. A German Shepherd who kept me safe in the badlands of Hendon in the 1980s. First noticed she was ill when she jumped over the stream in Backhouse Park that she'd leapt across a thousand times before and didn't make it. Within a few months she was dead. Broke my heart. Loved that dog to bits and I still grieve for her.
