Mebbe just me that thinks this, but this thread is in danger of going downhill rather rapidly and given the nature of it, I feel that that would be a pity.

I often feel out on a limb though as I live at the end of a giant arm.

    RIP Libby X.

Totally agree. Would it be too much also to ask the MODS to remove all the discusions about capital punishment to another thread?

That man will never get out. I know what gets said in the papers, but trust me, this one is staying in prison.

It's gut wrenching reading the news reports. Unimaginable what her family have already endured already let alone this. This bastard deserves all that's coming his way.

Are we to infer that you have an inside track on this?

"We will invite you to conclude that is because he raped and killed her there and put her into the river." That to me suggests a lot of circumstantial evidence, the use of the word conclude. Not, we will show and prove rape and murder. Also, the trial is set for four weeks, which seems to make it less of a straightforward matter. The agony the parents will go through, reliving your daughters last few hours over a four week court case. Horrible.

Then again, eight and a half years for knocking one out in public? He did do it, didn't he?

Just read the opening statement from the prosecution in the hdm.
Heartbreaking reading. God knows how Libby’s mum dad and family can listen to that.
And the people who tried to help her must be suffering too with feelings of guilt.
    So sad.

An extremely sad and horrific thing for the family to be going through. No matter what punishment is given out(presuming he's found guilty) the family will never get any respite!

Just from the evidence so far he's much more dangerous than we thought, we would have definitely had a predatory serial killer loose in our midst if he hadn't been caught.
