I just saw on another site that Ernie Morgan sadly passed away yesterday. I'm far too young to ever know how good he was but I know of his goalscoring abilities and that he is our joint record goalscorer for a season with 31 goals. I have no doubt that he was a good servant for us so RIP Ernie and condolences to his family. I hope there is a minutes applause for him on saturday.

An absolute Legend & certainly in a lot of peoples all time GFC XI's.

A sad day and a minutes applause tomorrow will be a very fitting send off. RIP Ernie

Not even this old timer ever saw Ernie play, but I remember my dad coming home from matches and singing his praises.
He was a true Gillingham legend. I remember reading once how he and Brian Yeo (joint record holders) struck up a friendship
after they first met up, sometime after Ernie retired; which was nice to hear.

An update, Ernie's family will be the chairman's special guests at the game tomorrow. Fair play to Mr Scally, I think that is a really nice touch. I found it on here:

brb - sorry to promote another forum on here but after reading that I thought it deserved to be shared <ok>

I saw Ernie in my 1st year at Priestfield (his last year) but to be honest I don't really remember much about him.

    RIP Ernie.

I would of liked to have seen Ernie Morgan walk around Priestfield Stadium as part of The Gillingham Legends we have got for every home game this season, but sadly that is not going to happen after hearing this news today and my thoughts go out to Ernie Morgan's family and friends at this very difficult time.

Hopefully Ernie Morgan will be given a minutes silence / minutes applause tomorrow.
