They announced during the last match of the night on Premier League Darts which is still going on as I type this. Didn't realise he was actually at the event when he had the heart attack. Bummer. Controversial bloke but a major personality in the sport and all the current darts players owe him a debt for building up the sport in the 80s.
Quite shocked, loved the bloke back in the day. Not a good week, first Wilkins, now the Crafty Cockney.
He had some great games back in the late 70s/early 80s...anyone remember the little welsh bloke, Alan Jones? Him and Bristow had a real humdinger of a tie.
His name was Alan Evans I know because I beat him in a darts match in 79 (my darts claim to fame) Part of my winnings was an autographed set of Alan Evans darts worth £30 a lot of money for a set of darts in those days
