Rio Ferdinand According to the Sunday People, Rio Ferdinand may actually retire in January not the end of the season. The QPR defender recently told Jonathan Ross on ITV that he could retire at the end of the current campaign. However, that footage was apparently re-shot after he initially told the chat show host that he could hang up his boots in January. “The audience were pretty stunned when he said he might retire in a few weeks’ time in January," an audience member is quoted as saying. “When the second recording began, Ferdinand didn’t mention going in January – only at the end of the season. But the way he was talking, it looked like he was nearing the end.” Tony Pulis Meanwhile, the Daily Mail claim that Harry Redknapp has just two games to save his job as QPR boss. SEE ALSO: The biggest loser in the Redknapp and Taarabt spat is Tony Fernandes The Rs have only won once during their first eight Premier League games under Redknapp, with the west London side sitting bottom of the table. QPR host Aston Villa at Loftus Road on Monday night in a bid to change that situation. Should Redknapp be given the sack, however, Tony Pulis has been lined up to replace him, according to the Mail's report.
Dr Watson " I say old chap. How did you find that out? You read it in the paper. That's fiendishly clever of you. It must have been in a devilishly cunning code in the 6th column of page 3 of the Times." All together now: "Elementary , my dear Watson"
"But Holmes, don't most journalists talk out of their arse?" "Alimentary my dear Watson. Alimentary."
It doesn't say much for Ryan Giggs judgement of players, he said Rio would still be in the Manure team if he was manager. It shows how much United really relied on Vidic to cover the cracks...
Well that would certainly save us a few months in wages to cover bringing in a replacement. Not sure if Pulis with his own crew would want Hoddle around - likely Sir Les would keep his new job, but after his Palace experience I don't imagine Pulis would want someone overseeing him.
That would just about sum up our forays into public communications - Rio blurts out his planes to the first person that asks the right question (unless Jonathan Ross is a master interrogator and I just missed it) and then assumes an entire studio audience would forget they ever heard anything. I hope the rest of the squad already knew because Rio jumping ship sends out the worst possible message from our most senior and successful player. I'll assume management already know but this is a blow for Arry and I actually feel sorry for him because he put a lot of faith in Rio's promises about being up for the fight at the wrong end of the table. Worst for me, Rio was brought in as an inspiration mainstay of the team and shows a fraction of the determination and commitment of say Ryan Nelsen who was brought in as backup and had a breaking body but gave absolutely everything every time he played. I know which I'd prefer now.
Neither can Rio apparently and I suspect he'd ho immediately if we didn't have to wait until January to replace his half-arsed performances.
TF should have held his ground in sanctioning the renewal of "the special relationship between Rio & Harry" Why, oh why, are we always the ones mixed up in such a load of bollocks! QPRâs chairman Tony Fernandes has been speaking to the official site about the capture of Rio Ferdinand. Ferdinand left Manchester United this summer after 12 years with the club. Available on a free transfer, he was snapped up by manager Harry Redknapp, someone Fernandes says has a very special relationship with Ferdinand. Fernandes also spoke about the fact that they wonât be spending a lot of money during this summer and that it is more about building and stabilising during this transfer window. He also added that they wonât wait for players, signing only ones who have a desire to play for the club and spoke about the passion Ferdinand still has despite being 35. Mirror Sport also understands QPR chairman Tony Fernandes has called Adel Taarabtâs representatives to back manager Harry Redknappâs astonishing verbal attack on the 25-year-old, in which he branded the mercurial midfielder âthree stone overweightâ. Ferdinand, who will be 36 next month, was dropped for Sundayâs defeat to Liverpool after failing to impress since his arrival on a free in the summer. The former England defender was signed by Redknapp - despite opposition within the club - after being released by Manchester United in the summer. It is now understood that those who were against his one-year, £35,000-a-week deal at the time feel they have been vindicated by Ferdinandâs below-par displays in the early weeks of the season. Although Ferdinand has impressed insiders with his attitude and his work ethic in training, there remains a belief that the west London club should have invested in a younger player. Rangers are now ready to reignite their interest in long-time target Rolando, a 29-year-old Portugal international centre-half at Porto. They have also watched West Hamâs New Zealand international Winston Reid, who is in the final year of his contract.
