Thought this deserved a thread as much as the normal Olympics. Some amazing performances already from team GB,notably cycling and swimming. As I write we currently have 5 golds,3 silvers and 3 bronzes. All of these participants take my breath away, they are truly incredible !

They are amazing athletes - Sarah Storey won her 12th Gold over 7 different Games - thats a lifetime of dedication, regardless of her disability. They do tend to put some of the more pampered athletes to shame.

Full of admiration for these athletes. They make the best of what they have and get on with life without an ego to be seen, unlike the able bodied athletes. Good luck to all of them.

They should have sent the QPR team over the last few seasons!

I've just watched Ellie Robinson a 15 year old schoolgirl from Northampton win the 50m butterfly beating the red hot favourite Kruhl from Ukraine. Amazing.

Yes 999s that was incredible. The way she came out...her tiny rediscovered in a huge cloak...the way she left the block and beat the much bigger Ukrainian. They way she couldn't believe it. Lovely stuff. Makes me so happy.

I'm amazed at the swimmers with no arms who compete against those that have them. A chinese man with no arms just won a silver.

Yup 999s I don't get the formulae for allowing/ equating the various disabilities. Even though I listen to each of Walters explanations.
The Ukrainian was very differently disabled to Ellie...but it was tremendous. Triumph of the Spirit....let's hope our lot show the same spirit this afternoon.

Loved it when Clegg won the blind 100m and her guide at end when interviewed said "it was all her I didn't do anything I'm a bit like John Terry "!

    That made me chuckle!!

It's a shame many other 'great' sporting nations forget their disabled athletes - I've no idea where I'd try looking for Paralympic coverage over here.

There was a fella with no arms playing table tennis! He holds the bat in his mouth and throws the ball up with his foot. Incredible.

Found this. Not from the Olympics, but the same chap.

By the way Nines, I just saw your pic with Chris Ramsey on Facebook. I was taken aback at first, then realised we must have a common friend. I used to work with Johnnie Everton - you know him well?

The more I watch of the Paralympics the more I'm in awe of these amazing people. To single out just two, the Chinese swimmer with no arms who swam like a fish and the Egyptian table tennis player who also had no arms and played with the bat between his teeth. My utmost respect to these incredible athletes.
I would make all inflated ego and overpaid footballers sit down each day and watch these real athletes.

Richard Whitehead has just won gold in the 200m T44 at the age of 40. But a special mention must go to Capt Dave Henson who came through to win bronze. He had his legs blown off by an IED in Afghanistan only 5 years ago.
