Rio..Iâll become hermit if we lose to qpr: Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has warned younger brother Anton not to expect a pat on the back if QPR record a shock win at Old Trafford. The brothers have always been closeâ a bond that was evident earlier this season when Rio publicly spoke up for Anton after he was allegedly racially abused by John Terry â a charge the Chelsea captain will deny in court in July. But today it will be strictly business. Family loyalties will be split, with United desperate for three points to strengthen their grip on the Barclays Premier League title and QPRâs need just as obvious as they fight to stay in the top flight. âIt will be special if we win,â he said. âI can enjoy it if we win. If we lose I go into hiding and donât come out â I donât speak to family or anyone for a few days. That is just the way it is.â Now 33 and a father of three, Rio might have grown out of such reactions by now. Not a bit of it. âMy family just go with who needs the result,â he said. âThis time, I donât think they can side with anyone because we both need to win.â
For Rio to become a hermit, his brother and Hill need to keep Rooney in their back pocket. If Hill can manage that he will be my player of the season....bar none.
"If we lose I go into hiding and don’t come out - I don’t speak to family or anyone for a few days. That is just the way it is.” Now 33 and a father of three, Rio might have grown out of such reactions by now. Not a bit of it. “My family just go with who needs the result,” he said. Sounds like me, that... and believe me - the afflicted DO NOT grow out of it!! Odd thing is, it doesn't happen in other areas of life - just QPR (and England when they're serious maybe).
