They say he's taken a massive pay cut to join. But let's wait and see.

1 year on an enormous pay cut and I would be only slightly peed with this. Even at that, a sign that nothing has been learnt from the past.

Don't know how to feel about this. It's like we're not learning from our mistakes. Can anyone see Rio caring that much about pulling on an R's shirt?

Absolutely fantastic news if true! Would give the club a massive boost in every department.

Imo he will have the same impact for us in the Premier League as Richard Dunne had for us in the Championship. Vital.

He still have a lot to offer, I'm 100% sure of it. And I believe in our club now, there is no way this deal isn't in QPR's best interest.

Dont want him TBH but would prob do ok alongside Ned for half a season.

Got the experience to coach Ned along but I'cv never been a big fan. he'll always give the oppo a chance. every game he plays in he makes an error. even when he was at his best.

Im sure he's prob better than anything we've had in the past 10 years, but for me its a bad signing...if true.

Oh well, it could have been Upson <laugh>

We have Ned and 3 others with a combined age of my over 100.

If Ned gets injured, we will have the worst and slowest CBs in the league. The only way this makes sense is if hill isn't signed or Dunne is given away like we did with HH.

Don't get me wrong, I have lots of respect for Rio but I still have a bad taste in my mouth from our last batch of getting near retirement age batch of players.

If this happens then I will support him whilst donning the hoops and very much hope my doubts ar proven wrong.

Ok, on a limb here but I think this is a sensible signing. One year deal, reduced wages.

Hill and Dunne are subs next year at best. Rio is a good fit for us. Do we want to stay up in the first sesson? Of course we do. Very very experienced defender with one or two seasons left.

If you don't want experience then name who you think will be a better bet to keep us up for the 2014/2015 sesson.

He was starting to get shown up in a Man U side, he'll be far more exposed in our starting XI. Personally i think he should have bowed out at Man U. It can only be a backward step coming to us.

Caulker and vlaar to name just two we've been linked with
Of course they won't need to be replaced next summer either.

I was thinking reading the thread that every post looks like I've written it, everyone has their own breaking point, mine is just a lot earlier than most.

I don't see him lasting until xmas if he makes signings like this and we are still in trouble, it won't cost much to sack him either.

Fair enough. Trawling through past posts and there were many slagging off HR for getting Dunne in. Lots of posters have short memories.

Rio is not ideal. But in the first season we need experience mixed with youth. I think it's a decent deal for the a Club (as long as it is a one-year contract).

    In 'Arry I trust.

Ive given Harry the benefit of doubt over the last season and he's delivered.

Sorry to say that Im going to struggle to support Harry if this does come off.

Surely it goes against all those posts saying TF wants younger players etc... I just dont see the point in this at all. ?

It's going to be a mixture of youth and experience. We need to stay up season 1. End of.

25 man squad needs to be selected carefully. Can Dunne and Hill cut it? I don't think so. A 25 man squad with Rio Ferdinand in it? Our chances are, in my view, improving if that were to be he case.

My question is, who would partner him?
