Guys been coming in for a bit of stick lately, good job i think hes a complete twat, anyone who turns down the chance to play for there country deserves all the stick he gets,as far as i can see he leaves himself wide open for it.
I used to rate him a few years ago, but started to go off him when he "forgot" about a drugs test that had only been set up that morning, since then he's been a bit of a loose cannon and now he's not even a top defender!
This investigation needs to be conducted very carefully. If there were racist comments made by England fans then throw the book. However I can't see how it is directly racist an we need to be very carful about calling it easily to abuse a black footballer in the same way a white one would be. For example if John terry had done the same thing the abuse would have been the same, if not worse. Fare and FIFA need to review this carefully it's unlike any other case and could set a dangerous precedent.
People are very quick to jump on Rio whilst forgetting Hodgsons behaviour. The way he treated Rio when he thought he was an injury prone has been was nothing short of disgraceful an to then u turn with his tail between his legs..well no sympathy from me. No one knows all the ins and outs of this story but I would also agree with "I wouldn't refuse to play for my country".
I think it's pretty fair, if he requires all this work to get him ready for a game then probably it's best for his career that he didn't play. Also we should have been fine without him.
Racist chanting must be stamped out - no question. Personally, I think FIFA has had much more obvious examples in the international arena to address recently, which it has handled in its usual half-hearted manner. In this latest case with some disenchanted England fans, my understanding is that the chanting was about burning & killing RF, highly unpleasant as it undoubtedly was but not specifically racist (although I think some pundit put a KKK slant on it, which is probably a stretch to justify). RF has often stirred negative emotions with his behaviour (* see caveat) and he does get slated for it, but I for one (and I doubt I'm alone) would be utterly disgusted if anything like this was sung at Carrow Road by Norwich fans - it's still crossing a line even if it isn't a racist line. * One last comment: in all of this we have to be mindful of the press and how they love to stir things up - we only know the "facts" as presented and interpreted in various forms of the media plus interview clips. We all need to remind ourselves constantly that we are manipulated on a daily basis by the "information media".
Any racist stuff (which is despicable) notwithstanding, guy's a complete twat, and I'd be glad to see the back of him as far as England is concerned. (The football team, I mean - I don't mind if he stays in the country)
