Rio Ferdinand is perfect management material claims QPR boss Harry Redknapp Nov 28, 2014 22:30 By Jacob Murtagh The former England centre half is set to hang up his boots at the end of this season, and the Rs boss thinks he's management material Jamie McDonald Struggle: Ferdinand has lost his place in the QPR side Harry Redknapp reckons Rio Ferdinand should go into management when he hangs up his boots. The former Manchester United and England defender has clocked up more than 700 appearances during a trophy-laden career. Ferdinand looks set to retire when his contract at QPR expires at the end of the season, and could devote his time to a promising TV career. But Redknapp, who gave the centre-back his debut as a teenager at West Ham, says he can see the 36-year-old in the dugout when he retires. The Hoops boss said said: âI think Rioâs management material one day. âHeâs very laidback and doesnât get upset very easy. Heâs just himself and is a very confident boy and was like that when I first signed him. I knew what he was going to become. âHeâs a good person to have around the place because heâs a good pro and a good trainer, and sets a good example to everybody on the training pitch. Mike Hewitt Triffic: Harry has tipped Rio for success in the dugout âHe talks to the younger players. The kids look up to him and know what heâs done. They see what good shape he keeps himself in â heâs not fat and overweight or lazy. âHe could also go into TV â itâs probably easier and sounds a better be because thereâs no aggro!â Ferdinand has struggled since his summer move to Loftus Road and was dropped last month in favour of Richard Dunne. He has been forced to spend even longer on the sidelines after being slapped with a three-game ban by the FA for using offensive language on Twitter. But Ferdinand could return to the side in place of the suspended Dunne for todayâs crunch clash with fellow strugglers Leicester City. Redknapp added: âI donât think Rio has to prove anything to anybody really. His career has been so good he will just get on with it. âI think he didnât like the ban but accepted it in the end. Itâs nonsense really to get done for that. Itâs over now. Heâs back and available, so Iâm sure he will be okay.â
Management material? Things Rio can't manage:- 1) To piss into a pot. 2) To make a meaningful tackle. Things Rio can manage:- 1) To write as book. 2) To insult people's mum's. He talks a better game than he plays so who knows...?
I think you are being grossly unfair to him. In the space of only a couple of months, he has managed to go from a captain-like player to a bench warmer, at best. Not everyone can achieved such a result. Other players work their backsides off and what is their reward? ............ a spot in the following weeks game. No, credit where credit is due ..................... Rio, along with several book releases, has achieved much. Harry is so impressed of Rio's time on the sidelines, he thinks he may as well stay there and wear a suit ( manager ) ..... cause he ain't getting any game time soon. So Rio, if you are truly serious about becoming a manager, go and buy yourself a packet of Cornflakes or Rice Bubbles, the entry form will be inside.
