Ferdinand is very important for us. His experience is vital and his partnership with Evans has also been good. Evans also plays a good game with Ferdinand plays alongside with him, he calms the defense down and our defense looks better with him playing. how many times this season especially in in the 2nd leg Ferdinand saved Evra's bad positioning. We need to keep Ferdinand fit because when Ferdinand is not playing our defense looks so open. People who says Rio is past it are talking rubbish, he may not have the pace he once had but he can still defend and his defending has been great, he did save us a lot of times this season.
Rio uses his experience extensively in the premiership. But I am afraid it is obvious that he got found out against skilful fast and unpredictable strikers in Europe. Especially without Vidic. Vidic has been sorely missed in Europe. No matter what happens in the title race, we have done well despite our inconsistent defence rather than because of it.
