AURIER was stopped from entering the UK BECAUSE HE HAD A CRIMINAL CONVICTION and I have no problems with that. however Messi also has a criminal conviction? but I have not seen any RESTRICTION ON HIM BEING ALLOWED IN? Now Neymar is facing a similar record.....

from this it makes you wonder what uk football is doing wrong ..we have all the goodies spain has all the baddies they win everything and we just take part!

I'm guessing the difference is that Aurier was given a jail sentence though he is free pending appeal, whereas Messi was given a suspended sentence and that's that.

The difference is Messi has a Spanish (and Argentinian) passport. With a European passport UK cannot stop entry. Aurier only has a Ivory Coast passport although raised in France and was denied a French passport - hence he can be denied entry.

In theory after Brexit UK could stop Messi (assuming we do not sign up to a freedom of movement agreement with Europe). Similarly European countries could stop UK citizens entering when we want to go abroad.

I think Messi was given a jail sentence and appealed, because it was less than 2 years, and so can serve it suspended REFERENCE TO Spanish LAW
