Just being discussed on radio devon, that the question needs to be asked do we need an established manager to come in?.Methinks Brent and Ridsdale may be making making plans very soon-given we have no wins in seven.
I've always been against such a claim so soon into the managers tenure - but he doesn't have the required experience. gary johnson has to be the best candidate (assuming luggy will not leave southend considering their position). We need that man that knows the lower FL leagues and can make a difference in the jan transfer window. Purse will be a fine addition, but the squad in the short run needs experience in the position we are in. Bring back coughlan, capaldi, connoly, norris, wotton, halmosi, evans, stonebridge, friio. feel free to add..
greenarmy, any player prior to the last 3 years would do for me. I'm not going to defend Fletcher either. This side have a total losing mentality and I cannot see it getting any better. What we need is either Jesus of Nazerath to perform a miracle or two of a Manager who will kick ass till his toes drop off to instill some backbone into this sorry collection. I noted a comment or two from notdistant on another thread about the Ref in this match. This had nothing to do with the Ref or how good or bad he was. This has everything to do with the squad as a whole from the top downwards. We need a new squad and apart from the odd one or two none of the current bunch should be kept. But it aint going to happen is it.
Chumps! simply pathetic!...how the hell we're gonna beat Northampton...immediate action is needed cos the rot is setting in!
It's an old cliche I know, but at least you can now 'concentrate on the league'. A City the size of Plymouth needs a League side. In the current circumstances 22nd will do for this season. Good Luck!
Sensible............I don't think we can wait until DEC 25th for a miracle. We have to get rid of Fletcher before there is no sign of any life in this club..........not just as manager but as a player as well.......his personal lack of discipline is infectious and I don't think he could teach the team to play a game of snap............how has he turned Bignot into a kamikaze pilot so quickly. Todays Daily Telegraph has a match report......and I Quote "Plymouth's cause was not helped by a first-half red card for Paul Bignot,YET THEY WERE OUTFOUGHT AND OUT THOUGHT BY THEIR OPPONENTS BEFORE THAT ANYWAY" (my capitals). Quoting Stourbridge manager Gary Hackett in the Telegraph "you have to put in perspective what these guys do, working today and then performing like that tonight. We deserved to win. I don't think Plymouth can have any objections". I just hope that Darren Purse didn't hot tail it for the safety of London after the final whistle,he was sitting next to Chris Webb......what unearth could Webby say that would of been positive after that rubbish. The Radio Devon commentators couldn't see how Argyle could ever score, and were puzzled why Cole won't catch the ball instead of trying to punch it all the time. They also admitted that Stourbridge looked more like the DIV 2 side then Argyle. I dread the thought of possibly losing to Northampton on Saturday.
I think people shouting "Fletcher Out" is a bit harsh. "Thank you for trying but please Ridsdale/Brent remove him from management" would be a better line. We still have time but we are limited on player options until January. I agree Fletcher should step down but until we have someone in the frame removing him would just upset morale.
I have every sympathy with Fletcher. He stuck with the club through an horrendous period with some dignity and was what passed for a shining light in some pretty poor teams. I didn't and don't agree with the premature sacking of Reid and would have been much happier to see our esteemed Czar of Football Ridsdale dispensed with. But again Fletcher stepped in when needed. However, he shouldn't have been offered the manager's post permanently and it's pretty clear now he isn't having a positive impact. The best and dignified solution now would be for him to step back down to a player/coach role for a couple of years working under an experienced lower league manager.
