Ok so we got the magic 4 points. I'm more relieved than pleased - ok by all accounts it was a ****e game, but it could have still been ****e and we could have lost (like at Forest). Anyway, ****e or not, its in the past. Moving on, I honestly can't see where the points are going to come from: Saturday 11/02 - Derby away - can't see us taking points here Tuesday 14/02 - Leeds away - I can see a miserable cold wet night for us here Saturday 25/02 - Newcastle away - against a premiership team in waiting? I don't think so! Tuesday 28/02 - Villa away - Villa will want revenge for their defeat at AG earlier. This looks like a worrying set of fixtures tbh. Our first winnable fixture IMO is Burton at home on 4th March. I just hope we have not slipped too far into the relegation zone by then that everyone gives up. Not looking good.
We will be in those bottom three places after the next four games. New manager in place for the Burton game.
How many points do you reckon he will need? I calculated 5 as a minimum to stay on track but 6 I feel should be minimum. Anything above a bonus. Personally, I think we will do well to get 4. All 4 games are potential defeats, but if that is the case, are we good enough for this division? I think we can be and have a much better squad but points will determine whether we do or not
Totally agree. The league table is a fair judge to be honest. I just feel that with the players we have, we should be higher up the league - if only we had a manager who could inspire them and get them to gel. Mind you, I would have thought the fear of relegation would be inspiration enough......
Oh ye of little faith, ok I'm more than happy to take the kicking afterwards, I think we will gather points by 3 +... but I'm always wrong..
In fairness there are not many teams in this league who would expect to get much from those 4 away fixtures this season, it's plain bad luck we have them back to back.
We'll get a token 1 point imo. God knows who against. Then we'll sack LJ, there will be no one decent to replace him with, and we'll probs go down. Happy Monday morning.
Doing Derby, Newcastle (flying up) and Villa. Going to be the most expensive month of the season. If they play like they did v Rotherham it will be nil points. Hoping to be surprised.
Following the 4 away games we will have 13 games left. 8 of which are at home. March has 3 home games, the First being Burton at home. We also play Wigan away.Norwich H and Huddersfield H are the others. Fulham H still needs re arranging. 13 games, 39 points available with us needing 20+ points if we gain nothing from this run of away games. At least 8 are at home I guess. 9 points needed in March as I dont see us getting any joy against Huddersfield.
Fair play Red,under normal circumstances i would be doing the same,at present not going to any of them. Demoralising watching the rubbish, week in,week out.
Now that the re-arranged Fulham game is in the middle of these games it helps a bit. The 4 away games are tough though.
In a weird way, being the underdog might relieve some pressure - gaining points from games one wouldn't expect to could be considered a bonus... ...Unfortunately, because we've dropped so many points in games we ought to have gotten more from, it means that goodwill is gone. In a way, the patience given to LJ is admirable, but it also means that any potential replacement wouldn't have much time to have an impact. We've made our bed, & now we have to lay on it - I remain sceptical that it was the right call though.
