At present we have a lot of options at right midfield but who do we start with next season in the Championship? Options at present Green Waggy N'Guessan (loanee) Haynes Pritchard (as cover only) All these have their pro's and con's BUT none of them are conventional out and out wingers (in the Paddy Powell role) who like to take their left back on and get to the byeline. Options to bring in Matt Ritchie (Swindon Town - proven flyer and goalscorer but still young) N'Guessan (known to Chris and has scored some important goals) Antonio (on loan from Reading to a Massive Club at present) We would only ever use Pritchard as cover on the right from the bench (or move him to the right if RM is subbed) I think right midfield will give Chris some sleepless nights over the next few months so what would your advice be on the attached poll. AllHell
Haynes is our player - We brought him for an undisclosed amount didnt we? Would like Matt Ritchie if possible but Marc Pugh from Bournemouth would be an option (isnt he refusing to sign a new Contract?)
Haynes was 50k. A figure millwall couldn't afford . Green as a backup with a new RM. who it is? No idea.
Haynes and Green for me to compete for the right midfield spot. I haven't seen enough of Antonio so therefore didn't vote for him, but he looks good in the five seconds massive get on the football league show.
I think we are forgetting something here when looking at players to bring in. CP has not put together a collection of players who are "good enough at league one or championship level" he has built a team. If anyone of us had been told that a player who was 25/26 and playing at Hayes and Yeading was going to be good enough for league 1, but was only 5'3" and played CM we would have scoffed. A team has more dimensions than just skill and crossing ability and that is why it is harder than the average jigsaw to put together. Both Green and Wagstaff have the ability to be team players and I am not certain that bringing in the next Theo Walcott is necessarily the right thing to do. Haynes is predominantly a striker cover for BWP so my vote goes for letting Green and Waggy have a crack at the championship where the style of play is frequently more open allowing them both a little more time on the ball.
It's all been said before in a other thread. I like Waggy. I like his industry and he's done lots of good things for us. But he's just lacking something in terms of skill and end product that IMHO will get found out at a higher level. Green to me just has that little bit extra. The trick is getting him to do it. There is a place for both in the squad but for me Green is the first choice. It actually wouldn't surprise me if both get moved on if we have the wherewithal to get a proven replacement . The likes of Kightly came to mind but I'd rather give Green a serious run out next year to se if he is up to it. Slipping off now. Wheeeech
I think the thing with Dany, Danny, Scott and Danny is Green and Waggy are out and out right wingers. Haynes and N'Guessan can play in 2 and 3 positions repectivly. A lot of SCPs squad building could come down to the number of subs we are allowed. Something that has had an adverse effect on Hayes and Evina this year and could choke Waggy next year. Of the current players Green is the best right winger IMO, but they might not get him a place on a 5 man bench
Green green green......well he wont play many games will he?.......i think he is nearly 24!....and people talk about potential? Perhaps we can look forward to him reaching it then!!!!!.......
