Was listening to this on talksport this morning and could not believe some of the ridiculous comments. "Och he earns such and such amount every year, what has he got to be stressed about?" Doesn't work like that though does it. The brain is utterly unfathomable and we will never understand it. It can cause all sorts of problems for people, no matter how succesful or how much money they earn. The brain is a complex beast and can affect one's physical health in all manner of ways.

Good luck to the guy and I hope he recovers. It is obviously a long standing problem so he needs to look after himself.

Good thread ER and wholeheartedly agree. It is very hard for the guy and clearly a decision he has not taken lightly - you don't just turn your back on a massive tour and a signifcant pay cheque for the fun of it.

This seems to be getting more common with cricketers - He's the third one in recent times to have left an England tour. I guess that being on the other side of the world away from family and friends for 3 months and being expected to perform at the hughest possible elvel day in day out is not the easiest task and is bound to affect anyone who suffers from any kind of stress related condition.

The uninformed comments, especually those centred around his earnings, make me laugh actually. It has absolutely nothing to do with whether people get stressed or not.

Me too but I suspect it ain't happening. I do worry that Trott's departure is yet another reminder of the 2006 debacle where we got battered 5-0 . Batsmen are playing as badly as I can ever remeber and the aussies are now after blood and will put us under intolerable pressure. We're doomed.

Yes but just remember they will always be racist sexist fascists with little history behind them.

Descended from the lowest of the low basically.

Yeah so are my uncle aunt and cousin. They're actually pretty froendly over there - the ones who come over to the Uk tend to be youngsters looking for work and many are off the leash for the first time so they're always going to be a bit lairy and arrogant. look at the backpackers we send over there - I wouldn't allow them back in
